Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both views regarding the importance of theatres and cinemas versus online streaming, and presents a personal opinion. However, the ideas are somewhat repetitive and lack deep development, particularly in supporting how cinemas contribute culturally and economically. Furthermore, the response falls short of the word count requirement, containing only 244 words against the 250-word minimum specified in the task instructions. This under-length impacts the overall fullness of the task response, placing it squarely in the Band 5.0 range due to the incomplete development and length penalty.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into four distinct paragraphs, following a logical layout with an introduction, two body paragraphs discussing opposing views, and a conclusion. However, progression is somewhat mechanical and repetitive, relying on formulaic transitions like 'On the one hand' and 'On the second hand' (which contains a lexical error). Paragraphing is used, but the overall logical flow is hindered by simplistic signposting and repetitive phrasing, resulting in a Band 5.0 score for cohesion and coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and frequently repetitive, with numerous spelling and word-form errors such as 'entainment', 'internet' (missing articles), 'threaters' (repeated multiple times for 'theaters'), 'impotant', and 'unemployment' instead of 'unemployed'. While the student attempts some less common terms like 'economic power' and 'crucial role', the high frequency of inaccurate word forms and limited lexical range restrict the score to Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and repetitive subject-verb patterns. There are frequent errors in articles ('on internet at their home', 'to the country'), prepositions, and singular/plural agreement ('Cinemas play a very crucial role', 'It give jobs'). Although basic meaning remains understandable, the lack of complex structures and frequent grammatical inaccuracies place this performance at Band 5.0.
