Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this age of technology where the internet is in the access of everyone, some people are of the view that theatres and cinemas are unnecessary now because everything is on internet just far from a single touch, but at the same time some people think that cinemas and theatres are necessary.
The first point of view is in the favor of theatres and cinemas. These mode of enertainments are still necessary because they are the source of income for so many. If we discard them from the world it will not be a good decision. Although cinema and theatres are of not much use now but they are really important culturally and for the fulfilment of financial needs. Moreover, the cinemas and theatres displays only the cultural relevant stuff in the respective country or area.
Conversely, in this modren age there is no more need of cinemas and theatres because all type of entertainment is in our hands on internet. Every kind of entertainment can be found online. On internet, all kinds of stuff is uploaded but we culturally had restrictions.
In my opinion cinemas and theatres are still of great importance because they providing financial support to many. I'm not much in the favor of internet for the entertainment purpose because there is no check and balance on the kids or on the adults about what they are watching this may leads to a disaster in someones life, also we can't cross the cultural limits and boundries while using internet. So overall, I want to conclude that cinemas, theatres and internet all have their own importance and all are necessary.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—that theatres and cinemas are obsolete due to online entertainment, and that they remain economically and culturally important. You also provide your own clear opinion throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, when supporting the economic and cultural importance, sentences such as 'These mode of enertainments are still necessary because they are the source of income for so many' lack specific supporting details or examples. The ideas are relevant, but they tend to be stated rather than fully extended, placing this response securely at Band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a discernible introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used to separate different viewpoints, which helps guide the reader. However, the logical progression is sometimes hampered by repetitive arguments and basic cohesive devices. Words like 'moreover' and 'conversely' are attempted, but referencing and transitions between sentences can feel mechanical or slightly disjointed, as seen in the transition from 'fulfilment of financial needs' to 'displays only the cultural relevant stuff'. Cohesion is occasionally faulty, leading to a Band 6 score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The lexical range is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey basic arguments about technology, culture, and finance. However, there are frequent spelling errors such as 'enertainments', 'modren', and 'boundries', alongside awkward word choices like 'cultural relevant stuff'. Vocabulary is often repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'entertainment', 'internet', and 'important'. While you attempt some less common vocabulary, the noticeable inaccuracies and spelling slips prevent the score from rising above Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and relative structures ('In this age of technology where the internet is in the access of everyone...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasings throughout the text, including preposition and article issues like 'in the access of everyone', 'in the favor of', and run-on structures such as 'this may leads to a disaster in someones life'. Punctuation errors also occur, such as comma splices. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader, aligning with the Band 5 descriptors.
