Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the digital age, many things have changed and a lot of them were not predicted in the near future. Nowadays, people donot really go to cinemas very often until or unless there is a big name movie coming up. This has placed many theaters and cinemas out of commission. In this digital age, digital media platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Fubo and many more have started emerging. They act like a cinema or theater at home, and at your finger tips; Which provides the viewer more control on what they would like to watch
On the other hand, cinemas and theaters are still important to many people. Some people like cinemas more then digital entertainment and its mostly all dependent on choice. Although for a more family time or bonding time, cinemas and theaters do have a positive rating of that. Before the digital media age, going to a cinema or a theater was always an experience. It mostly always full, people enjoyed being together more and so it became much more of a cultural to the older generation.
Todays generation is a much more of fast workers. Everyone wants the results of their actions much more early. They have a less of a social battery and also a less necessity to connect with people too. Due to the declining needs of friends or family time, the cinema has become much more of an old culture. The other reason for this is that people find digital media much more economic in price than spending double the amount at the cinema.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the main prompt by discussing both the decline of cinemas due to streaming services and their continued cultural and economic importance, while also touching upon the writer's perspective. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat superficial. For instance, the mention of family time and bonding is brief and lacks specific examples or robust elaboration. The conclusion and overall stance are a bit muddled, as the text leans heavily into explaining why cinemas are losing popularity without clearly synthesizing the opposing economic and cultural arguments demanded by the task. Because some ideas are under-developed and the perspective is not fully maintained throughout, this performance aligns closely with the Band 6 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to divide paragraphs by themes, such as the rise of streaming, the counter-arguments regarding cultural experience, and societal shifts in younger generations. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, the sentence starting with 'Which provides the viewer more control' is a fragment incorrectly punctuated with a semicolon instead of a comma or a full sentence structure. Additionally, referencing is occasionally vague, and transitional devices between paragraphs could be smoother to establish a more logical progression. Paragraphing is present, but the abrupt transitions place this response solidly at Band 6.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, featuring recognizable terms such as 'out of commission', 'digital media platforms', and 'fast workers'. The writer attempts some less common expressions, though word choice and collocation errors occasionally appear, such as writing 'more then' instead of 'more than', 'much more of a cultural' instead of 'more of a cultural experience', and 'a less of a social battery'. These inaccuracies do not completely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to a Band 6 level, as the range lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over sentence construction. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation lapses. Examples include spelling 'donot' as one word, incorrect use of a semicolon ('...at your finger tips; Which provides...'), missing pluralization or articles ('a less of a social battery', 'a less necessity'), and awkward phrasing like 'a much more of fast workers'. While these errors do not severely impede overall comprehension, their frequency prevents the writing from reaching the higher accuracy thresholds of Band 7. Therefore, a Band 6 is appropriate.
