Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on whether cinemas and theatres are still important in the digital age, and the writer includes a clear personal opinion. The ideas are generally relevant, as seen in the discussion about accessibility in rural areas for online entertainment and the economic and cultural value of physical venues. However, some ideas are a bit repetitive or under-developed, particularly in the second body paragraph where the distinction between cultural shows and general movie-watching could be clearer. Despite these minor limitations, the main prompt requirements are satisfied, leading to a Band 6.5 classification for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is divided into logical paragraphs with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed to connect ideas, such as 'To commence with', 'Paradoxically', and 'In conclusion'. However, some of the referencing and transitions feel slightly mechanical or awkward, such as starting the counter-argument with 'Paradoxically', which does not fit the precise meaning required here. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different aspects of the prompt, resulting in a coherent overall structure that warrants a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'social-lucrative era', 'motivational and Mythological stories', and 'employment opportunies'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, including 'digiotal', 'culturalal', 'accesss', 'entertainmnet', and 'opportunies'. Additionally, some word choices are awkward or non-standard, such as 'picture hall' instead of 'cinema' or 'theater'. These lexical errors and spelling mistakes restrict the score to Band 6.0, though communication is not impeded.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'Digital entertainment offers access to large amount of content online...' and 'Although online entertainment provide accessibity...'. There are several grammatical errors present, particularly subject-verb agreement issues like 'entertainment provide' and 'Earlier rural people do not have access', as well as punctuation and capitalization slips like 'everyones' life'. While complex sentences are attempted, errors in grammar persist, placing this performance firmly at Band 6.0.
