Some people say that in the digital age, theatres and cinemas are no longer important as people can watch all the entertainment they want online. Others argue that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

In modern technology era, a number of individual believe that theater and cinemas have lost their importance as they can watch all entertainment online. Others, however, believe that these venuesl remain essential for both cultural and economy reasons. In my opinion, while online sterming saves time and privacy, physical entertainment such as spending quality time in threater with family and friends are still vital to society.

On the one hand, due to modren technology the popularity of online sterming grows rapidely. Services like Netfilx, Youtube and Disney allows users to acess thousand of movies and shows from the confort of their home.In addition, it is low budget friendly and save time, as people do not need to travel, queue for tickets, or buy expensive snacks. For example, a monthly subscription often cost less than a single chinema ticket. As a result, they prefer watching entertainment on their personal devices.

On the other hand, theater and chenima plays a greater role economically and culturally. From an economic prospective, these venues provide lots of job opportunities such as create jobs for actors, technicians and hospality staff. Furthermore, cinemas are often located in shopping malls, near restaurants and shops. Culturally, going to the theater is a shared social experience that brings communities together. Also, the feeling of watching a film with families and friends on a massive screen with high quality sound creates an emotional connection that can not be replicate at home.

To conclude, although digital platforms have made enternment more easy and chep then ever before, they can not fully replace traditional venues. I believe that chinimas and theaters will remain important because they support local economies and provide unique culture experience.
