Student answer (Band 6.0)

As the world is advancing several technological invetions, a part of people believes that the trend of theatres and cinema are not much crucial, while other thinks that such amminities hold the economical and cultural value, required in the society. This essay will discuss both of the views and provide a opinion in favour of second statement.

To begin with, as the internet has become very convinient to access the vedios that is provided on the threateres, most of the individuals consider it a waste of money and donot like to visit cinemas. For example, nost of the peers watch movies in the netflix rather than going to the threatre.

On the other hand, most people believe that the trend of theaters and cinemas contains economic importance. Talking about the traditional values, most of the movies that contain traditional things or traditional beliefs would be more motivating, as most people would watch them in theaters.Talking about the economic factor, a movie would be able to earn and pay the actors, and they would also pay taxes to the government, which will gradually increase the income of the country.

In my opinion, I believe that the trend of theaters and cinemas should continue, as it provides both traditional and economic value. Moreover, experiencing a movie in a theater is quite amazing, and it feels like we are in the same action as the cinema.

In conclusion, despite having several criticisms that theaters and cinemas face, I believe that they have much importance in the field of economics and culture of the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—the decline of theatres/cinemas due to online streaming and their ongoing economic and cultural importance—while also providing a clear personal opinion. The student states their position in the introduction and reiterates it in the body and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the argument regarding traditional values and economic factors in the third paragraph is underdeveloped and lacks specific supporting examples. Despite these limitations in depth, the task is addressed adequately enough to satisfy the criteria for Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay has a coherent overall arrangement and follows a standard essay structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct ideas. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. Transitional phrases like 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are used, but referencing within the text is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'provided on the threateres' and 'the same action as the cinema'). Progression is present, but some sentences feel abrupt or loosely connected. This places the text securely in the Band 6.0 category.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'invetions', 'amminities', and 'traditional values'. However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, such as 'invetions' (inventions), 'convinient' (convenient), 'vedios' (videos), 'threateres' (theatres), and 'netflix' (Netflix). While these errors are frequent, they do not severely impede communication as the reader can still understand the intended meaning. This performance aligns with the Band 5.5 to 6.0 descriptors, comfortably earning a Band 5.5 due to the density of lexical inaccuracies.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures. However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('a part of people believes', 'other thinks'), incorrect prepositions ('in the netflix', 'in the cinema' instead of 'on'), and awkward phrasing ('provide a opinion in favour of second statement'). While these errors do not completely obscure the meaning, they persist throughout the text and prevent the response from achieving a higher band. Therefore, a score of 5.5 is appropriate for grammatical accuracy.
