Student answer (Band 5.5)
In todays digital age, entertainment is mostly available online. It is often argued that importance of cinemas and theaters are no more owing to now people have access to all type of entertainment available online, while other advocate that theates and cinemas are still economically and culturally important. Although both perspectives have their merits, I beileve that online entertainment has reduced the need to visit cinemas, but it has not completely replaced their economic and cultural role.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why some people believe that theatres and cinemas are no longer important. The first and foremost reason is cost and convinience. This is because, online entertainment is available anywhere and anytime, with just access to internet and no cost or very low cost of subscription of platform, compared to cinemas traveling time can also saved by watching it online. Furthermore, people now have a freedome of choice to watch anything at their own pace. In online entertainment, content, laguage, volume and all other control are in their hand. For instance, a person in india can watch hollywood film in their own language which can not possible in cinemas.
On the other hand, others argue that theater and cinemas are still important. One major reason for this is that it contribute country as well as locals economically. To extend this, government can earn in form of tax from this entertainment, additionally cinemas also contributs to employmet in local people. Not only employee of cinemas but nearby restaurants can also have apportunity to earn. Furthermore, theatres also important culturally. I agree with this beacause they presents cultural shows, traditional performance and local shows. Therefore it is important for locals and for preservation of arts.
To conclude, owing to the fruitful pros of online entertainment like convinience, cost and choice , importance of theatres and cinemas is reduced. Although, I think that it is still important as economical opportunity and preservation of culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that cinemas are obsolete due to online media and that they remain economically and culturally important—while also providing a clear personal stance in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are extended with reasons and examples, such as the comparison of convenience and the economic contribution of local employment. However, some arguments tend to generalise or are slightly repetitive, which places the response securely at Band 6.0. The student covers the prompt adequately, but further depth in the supporting examples would be required to reach the next band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is coherent overall with a clear logical arrangement, dividing the response into a well-defined introduction, two distinct body paragraphs addressing each perspective, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'On the one hand' and 'Furthermore', though referencing and transitions can occasionally feel mechanical or slightly repetitive (for instance, 'On the other hand, others argue...'). Paragraph transitional phrases help guide the reader through the argument, meeting the criteria for a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'subsequently', 'preservation', and 'convenience'. However, there are notable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'todays' instead of 'today's', 'convinience' instead of 'convenience', 'freedome', 'laguage', and 'contributs'. While these lexical errors occur with some frequency, they do not impede communication because the intended meaning remains clear to the reader, aligning well with the Band 6.0 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over multi-clause structures such as 'Although both perspectives have their merits, I believe that...'. However, there are frequent grammatical inaccuracies, including missing articles ('contribute country as well as locals economically'), subject-verb agreement issues ('theatres also important culturally'), and awkward phrasing ('owing to now people have access'). Punctuation and structural errors occur consistently, but they rarely impede overall communication, placing this criterion at a Band 6.0.
