Student answer (Band 5.0)

For the statement that some of the people feel that theaters and cinemas are not important as they were before becuase we can watch all that entertainment online while others affirmly state that they are still a lifeline of our cultural and economical sectors.

i would partially agree with the statement that they are no longer " the important " parts of our lives because that ship sailed away when online streaming platform were born giving more placefor the movies and other entertainment sectors to grow while audience can watch it at the ease of their schedule. it has given given us freedom to that missing the show ,fear.

But every grate thing comes with a price, it has taken the special feeling of going to the cinema with the loved ones and making going to the theator delightful. With bearing the loss it is performing quite good if we consider the economics of this.

Accoring to a report, last year cinemas total revenue was about 30 billion dollar which is quite a big amount for the sector which is being called dead. and with new technology being introduced in this sector, there are chances of it comeback.

Keeping these facts into account, I would say that we should go tothe theators and cinemas when we can so we can have the fun of our lives. With recent developments, I believe that cinemas will be brought to their glory with time. But for now we have to give support to this magical place.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views presented in the prompt—that cinemas are no longer important due to online streaming, and that they remain economically and culturally vital—while also presenting a clear personal opinion ('i would partially agree with the statement'). However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and lacks depth. For example, while the economic argument mentions a revenue figure of 30 billion dollars, the support is brief and generalized. The introduction is also written as a single fragmented sentence rather than a fully formed opening statement. Despite these limitations, all parts of the task are addressed, and a clear position is maintained throughout, fitting the Band 6 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays an overall coherent arrangement, but paragraphing and mechanical cohesion are problematic. The introductory paragraph is incomplete and syntactically disconnected from the main body. Paragraphing is attempted, with the student separating ideas into distinct blocks, but internal transitions can be faulty or mechanical, such as the abrupt shift in 'But every grate thing comes with a price'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and punctuation errors (such as missing capitals at the start of sentences and unspaced punctuation marks) disrupt the flow of reading. Although logical progression exists from streaming to economics, the structural execution points firmly to a Band 5 performance.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey basic arguments about streaming platforms, revenue, and cultural value. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'becuase', 'affirmly', 'placefor', 'grate', 'theator', and 'Accoring'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary ('lifeline', 'economical sectors', 'total revenue'), but inaccuracies in spelling and collocation occasionally cause strain for the reader. The range of vocabulary is sufficient for communication but remains limited, aligning well with the Band 5 criteria.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capability to construct multi-clause sentences, such as 'For the statement that some of the people feel that theaters and cinemas are not important... while others affirmly state...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, faulty sentence structures, and punctuation mistakes throughout the text. The opening sentence is a fragment rather than a complete independent clause. Other errors include 'at the ease of their schedule' and 'cinemas total revenue'. These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from reaching a higher band, placing it securely at Band 5.
