Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people argued that theatres and cinemas are still signiuficant both economical and cultural. Other individuals lay that in the digital age, theatres and cinemas are no more important as individual can watch all the entertainment they want on internet. In this essay i will disscuss both sides and I believe that digital age, theatres and cinemas are no essential as people can watch on online beacuse it became very by the help of internet and social media.

Firstly, Most of the people think that theatres and big screens are not essential for watching anything.Nowadays, here is a lot of platforms to watch these things on their mobile screens while they have free time. For instance, after his work time at evening Ram was not able to went in cinemas to unwind his mind. However, he usually used his mobile phone or laptop screen to watch some entertaining videos.

On the other hand, theatres and cinemas are still significant both for economical and cultural because digital age affect it more in this side. For example, all the people watch all the movies and entertainment videos on digitally futhermore, the cinemas will be closed after some time because of individuals cannot came to watch anything in theatre and cinemas. Therefore, the cinemas will be empty and their tickets became unsold. Thus, it is the effect of digital age on theatre and cinemas economically. And individuals cannot interact and connect with each other because they have not any meeting physically because of digital age.

To conclude, In the digital age can affect theatres and cinemas economically and culturally.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the task by discussing the views that theatres and cinemas are no longer important due to online entertainment, and the counter-argument that they remain economically and culturally significant. However, the student's own position is somewhat confused and contradictory, appearing in the introduction as a statement that theatres and cinemas are no longer essential, yet the body paragraphs struggle to articulate a clear line of argument. Ideas are presented but remain under-developed and repetitive, particularly regarding the economic impact. For instance, the point about cinemas closing down is stated multiple times without new supporting evidence or broader cultural discussion. Because the ideas lack full extension and the position lacks absolute clarity, the response meets the criteria for Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text is organized into paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion, which shows an attempt at overall structure. However, logical progression is frequently hindered by awkward transitions and confusing referencing. For example, cohesive devices are sometimes misused, such as starting a sentence with 'For example, all the people watch all the movies and entertainment videos on digitally furthermore...' where the linkage feels mechanical and inappropriate. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion is weak, leading to a choppy flow of ideas. Pronoun referencing is also occasionally unclear, making it difficult to follow the logical development of the arguments. These features place the response firmly at Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with noticeable errors in word formation and choice that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include spelling and morphological errors such as 'signiuficant', 'economical' (used instead of economy/economic contexts incorrectly), and 'on digitally'. The student attempts less common vocabulary, such as 'unwind his mind' and 'interact and connect', but these are often coupled with inaccurate collocation or awkward phrasing like 'because it became very by the help of internet'. While the range is minimally adequate to convey a basic message, lexical slips are frequent enough to prevent the score from reaching a higher band, warranting a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The writing displays a very limited range of sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are persistent grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense inconsistencies ('Some people argued' instead of argue, 'Ram was not able to went' instead of go), preposition misuse ('on online', 'on digitally'), and missing subjects or verbs. For instance, the sentence 'In this essay i will disscuss both sides and I believe that digital age, theatres and cinemas are no essential...' contains multiple grammatical breakdowns. Although simple sentences can sometimes be understood, the high frequency of basic structural errors causes significant difficulty for the reader, aligning with Band 4.0 descriptors.
