Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some people belive in the digital age the theatres and cinemas are being replaced because people can enjoy the entertainment they want online but some people still dont agree with this point and prefer theatre and cinemas.
While Watching entertainment online is a good replacement of cinemas and theatre because it is a one time investment to buy a good hd tv and have a good internet connection and it saves many time for the people as they dont have to travel to different places to watch cinemas as they can enjoy that from there home. Online entertainment also saves the risk of plan getting cancelled because many plans get cancelled as the one or two member of the family are not in a mood to travel to the cinemas or theatres like an individual who worked at office for whole day is tired and not in a mood for more travelling so online entertainment can be a good option in that case.
Theatres and cinemas are important economically because the theatre the cost of a ticket of a movie is much less as compared to buy a tv and having a good internet connection if a person is from a lower middle class family he cannot afford this. Theatres and cinemas and important culturally because in theatres we can most likely meet people from different culture and get to know about there culture and can get in touch with them and socially also theatre and cinemas are important because it has a great impact of an social life of an individual because it make them more extrovert and allow them to interact with people

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—that cinemas are losing importance due to online entertainment and that they remain economically and culturally important—while also providing a clear personal opinion, which is integrated into the body paragraphs. The ideas are generally relevant, but they suffer from under-development and lack specific supporting examples. For instance, the argument about economic importance reverses the logic by claiming tickets are cheaper than buying a TV, but this point is expressed in a confusing, run-on manner. While the writer attempts to cover all task requirements, the lack of depth and overly simplistic expansion of arguments places this performance firmly at Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is divided into three paragraphs, lacking a clear introductory and concluding structure, and the second body paragraph runs multiple distinct ideas together without adequate segmentation. Cohesive devices are minimal, repetitive, and occasionally misused, such as the frequent reliance on conjunctions like 'because' and 'and' to string long clauses together. There is a lack of clear progression, particularly in the final paragraph, which crams economic, cultural, and social arguments into one convoluted sentence without proper transitional phrases. Paragraphing is insufficient to separate the competing views clearly, resulting in a score of 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently reusing terms such as 'entertainment', 'cinemas', 'theatres', and 'online' throughout the essay. There are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'saves many time', 'watch cinemas', 'plan getting cancelled', and spelling errors like 'belive'. Less common vocabulary is attempted with limited success ('one time investment', 'lower middle class family'), but frequent lexical strain and imprecise phrasing limit the range. The vocabulary is minimally adequate for the task, fitting the Band 5 descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The essay relies heavily on a limited range of sentence structures, dominated by extremely long, run-on complex sentences connected by coordinating conjunctions without proper punctuation. For example, the final sentence of the text is a massive single clause containing multiple sub-points without any full stops or commas to guide the reader. Punctuation is largely absent, missing periods at the ends of sentences and lacking capitalization for proper sentence boundaries. Frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('theatres and cinemas are important... because in theatres we can... get to know about there culture'), lead to frequent difficulty for the reader.
