Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's fast - paced world, keeping our old traditions alive has become a significant challange. critics argue that youth today are discarding ancient in favor of westernized lifestyles, While modernising historic sites provides commercial space, I argue that preservation is crucial for historical awareness.
On theone hand, proponents of digital media argue that traditional venues are becoming obsolete because the internet provides instatnt access to massive libraries of content. From the comfort of their homes, viewers can watch films or live performances on demand, often at a fraction of the price of a cinema ticket. This shift in consumer behavior has reduced the need to travel to brick and mortar venues. Consequently, streming services like netflix have democratized entertainment, allowing people to personalize their bviewing schedules without being restricted by cinema showtimes oe seat availability.
On the other hand, physical venues offer unique culture and economic values that digital platforms cannot replicate. Culturally, attending a cinema or a live theatre performance is a shared social experience that fosters a sense of community. The immersive atmosphere created by high - quality sound sysyems, large screens, and a collective audience response elevates the artistic value of the performance. Economically, these instituations are powerful drivers for local commerece. They generate thousand of jobs, from actors and hospitality workers, and simulate spending nd public transportt network.
In conclusion, although the digital age has made entertainment more accessible than ever, i believe that theatres and cinemas are far from obsolete and assest in modern world.t

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the view that theatres and cinemas are no longer important due to online entertainment and the counter-argument that they remain culturally and economically significant. A clear position is presented, stating that preservation is crucial. However, the introduction introduces a slight distraction regarding 'historic sites' and 'westernized lifestyles' which does not quite fit the specific prompt about theatres and cinemas. The body paragraphs provide relevant ideas, such as the convenience of streaming services versus the shared social atmosphere and economic impact of physical venues. Although the conclusion is slightly truncated and contains a typo ('assest' instead of 'assets'), the main arguments are sufficiently developed to meet the criteria for Band 6.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure separating the introduction, the two opposing views, and the conclusion. Logical connectors such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' are employed to guide the reader through the contrasting viewpoints. However, there are some mechanical errors in cohesion and referencing, such as 'On theone hand', 'instatnt', and 'streming'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct themes, but the flow is occasionally disrupted by spelling mistakes and typos that affect the seamless integration of ideas. Therefore, a band score of 6.0 is appropriate.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'obsolete', 'democratized', and 'immersive atmosphere'. However, there are several noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'challange', 'instatnt', 'streming', 'netflix' (uncapitalized), 'bviewing', 'oe', 'commerece', 'thousand' (should be thousands), 'simulate' (likely meant stimulate), and 'public transportt'. While these errors do not severely impede communication, their frequency prevents the score from reaching a higher band. The lexical range is sufficient for a Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating the ability to construct conditional or multi-clause sentences, such as 'From the comfort of their homes, viewers can watch films or live performances on demand...'. There are several grammatical and mechanical errors, including missing articles, capitalization slips, and typos like 'They generate thousand of jobs, from actors and hospitality workers'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, though spacing around hyphens ('fast - paced', 'high - quality') is slightly irregular. The frequency of errors places this response firmly at Band 6.0, as errors rarely impede overall communication.
