Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, community says that watching theatres and cinemas are not crucial for individuals, in fact enjoyment material can be watched through internet. I will discuss both views and give my own opinion, that people dispute about theatres and cinema are still worthy for economy and tradition.

On the one hand, in this modern era, people enjoy their movies through internet rather than travelling to cinema. In this case, people do not want to travel from one place to another, they think it could be waste of time and money. In addition, youngers always acknowledge the internet tools and watched the fascinating things according to their liking. Multiple apps and websites are woundering in the society, people can easily watch through online apps and on other platforms. For instance, numerous countries have high speed internet like 5G, that play the vedios without buffring. In the end they do not need to visit cinema or any other stations to watch interesting vedios.

On the other hand, population of other countries still argue about the cinema that they say it is crucial for our economy and culture. From my perspective, it is a crucial thing that cinema and theatres should run in the town. Because, on special events and fascinating occasions they should be remain open for society. When people entertain somewhere outside of their homes they spend money in numerous platform, and automatically, visiting theatres and cinemas get benefits from them. For example, holidays are significant for empolyed people and they exhausted from their 9 to 5 jobs, so, they wanted entertain somewhere else like in theatres and cinemas. They loved to watch movies rather than staying at home.

In conclusion, some people argue about cimenas and theatres are important for entertainment. In my opinion, it is a crucial thing to support the cinemas for outdorr activities also have fun with their family and friends.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—the rise of online entertainment versus the economic and cultural importance of physical venues—and presents an opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion of the internet focuses heavily on high-speed 5G and avoiding travel without delving deeper into wider cultural implications. The conclusion briefly reiterates the points but lacks strong synthesis. Overall, the ideas are relevant, and the stance is clear throughout, aligning best with a Band 6.0 performance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs representing different views, and a conclusion, showing an overall logical arrangement. Paragraphing is utilised adequately to separate the two perspectives. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. Words and phrases like "On the one hand," "In this case," and "In addition" are used, but transitional links occasionally feel disjointed or repetitive, as seen with multiple consecutive sentences starting with "people". Referencing can also be unclear, such as in the final paragraph where pronouns and linkages blur the connection between outdoor activities and supporting cinemas. This fits the Band 6 descriptors well.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student attempts a range of vocabulary appropriate for the topic, including terms like "community," "modern era," "fascinating things," and "outdoor activities." However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as "community says" instead of "some people say," "websites are woundering in the society" instead of "available/popular," and "empolyed people and they exhausted" rather than "employed people who are exhausted." Spelling errors like "woundering," "vedios," "buffring," "empolyed," and "outdorr" also occur. Because the vocabulary is adequate for the task despite these limitations, a Band 5.5 is appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional-style ideas (e.g., "When people entertain somewhere outside of their homes they spend money..."). However, there are frequent grammatical errors in tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and article use, such as "watching theatres and cinemas are not crucial," "youngers always acknowledge," and "they wanted entertain somewhere else." While these errors are noticeable and require the reader to occasionally re-read, they do not completely impede communication. The control of grammar corresponds to a Band 5.0 level.
