Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, people can easily watch films and other forms of entertainment online. Therefore, some people believe that theatres and cinemas are no longer important. However, some people think that they are beneficial for both economically and culturally.
On the one hand, online entertainment is accessible and affordable. People can easily watch movies, dramas, and shows whenever they want without leaving their homes. Due to advancements in the media field , one can easily get access to any movies or streaming they would love to watch. For instance, if I want to watch any recent movie, I could simply open up my Netflix account and get the taste of cinema at home easily. As a result many people might prefer this option without investing any money and time to go out.
On the contrary, theatres and cinemas provides experience that cannot be completely replaced by watching shows at home. Cinemas provides an environment like huge screens and amazing sound system which is unavailable at homes. Similarly, theatres brings out our culture, and invites people to get a glance of arts, drama and traditional attires by live performances. Also many people working as paid actors gets benefit from the audiences. This also benefits economically when people go out in theatres and experience live dramas.
In my eyes, online entertainment is much comfortable but theatres and cinemas are equally important. They provide us social experiences and also benefits our society economically. Lastly, we must not completely vanish theatres and cinemas but use the online access as another source of joy and relaxation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—that cinemas are unimportant due to online streaming, and that they remain economically and culturally significant. The student also presents a clear personal opinion in the final paragraph. Ideas are generally relevant, such as mentioning convenience for online viewing and the unique environment of physical theatres. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed and lack extended support; for instance, the economic point is stated briefly without concrete examples. Overall, the task is addressed well enough to meet the requirements of Band 6.0, as the arguments are clear even if some parts lack the depth needed for higher bands.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph-by-paragraph structure, including an introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to signal progression, such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the contrary'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes mechanical or slightly faulty, as seen in the sentence 'This also benefits economically when people go out in theatres'. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, but the logical transitions between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother and more flexible to reach a higher band.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms like 'accessible', 'affordable', 'cultural', and 'entertainment'. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, but these are sometimes accompanied by inaccuracies in word choice or collocation, such as 'beneficial for both economically and culturally' instead of 'economically and culturally beneficial', and 'get the taste of cinema'. Spelling is generally accurate, but minor lexical slips indicate a Band 6 level where the vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main ideas clearly without causing severe strain for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional structures ('if I want to watch any recent movie, I could simply open up...'). There are several grammatical errors and awkward agreements throughout the text, including 'cinemas provides' (plural subject with singular verb), 'theatres brings out', 'many people working as paid actors gets benefit', and 'online entertainment is much comfortable'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but grammatical inaccuracies occur with enough frequency to prevent the score from reaching Band 7. Nevertheless, the errors rarely impede overall communication, fitting the Band 6 descriptor well.
