Student answer (Band 6.0)

Few indivisual believe that in digitial age, theatres and cinema hall are not necessary as people can see all the entertainment they like online. While other users disagree and supports that theatres and cinemas still hold significant value economically and culturally. I strongly believe that cinemas and theatres are no longer needed and one can enjoy online.

Many people still favours the cinemas and theatres, as it hold a deep emotional value for them. In early days, many couples used to go on date to watch movies, for instance, on valentine day or on their birthdays. For some it is place to hangout with friends to enjoy. As an experience they get from 3D cinema theatre is no match to watch they watch online. Moreover, cinemas not only hold emotional connection but also has economical effect as many people buy tickets along with expensive food. It is a source of revenue for many families.

On the other hand, It's much more convinent for one to watch movies online. As its just one click away. Online streaming gives access to an infinte world, As one can watch whatever they want to and at whatever time they desire to. It doesn't alters person's freewill. Additionally there are many ott platforms, such as, netflix, amazon prime, etc. Now a days, cinemas and theatres have just become a place of business with no actual benefit for it's consumers. For example you have to pay rs1000 to watch a movie, where as an ott platform require only rs800. Where it provide unlimited streaming for a month.

In conclusion, The cinemas and theatres were a good place to hangout and to create memories in early days but in modern era it has just become a business. So watching online not only saves your budget but also the hassel to travel.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the views that theatres and cinemas are no longer important due to online streaming, as well as the counter-argument regarding their economic and cultural value. The student also provides their own opinion clearly in the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the points regarding emotional value and going on dates are introduced in the second paragraph but remain underdeveloped. The student takes a firm stance, though the arguments tend to rely on generalisations rather than deep elaboration. According to the band descriptors, the task is addressed adequately, positioning this performance comfortably at Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a generally coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure separating the introduction, the two body paragraphs discussing opposing views, and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, sentences are occasionally fragmented awkwardly, such as starting a sentence with 'As its just one click away.' Referencing is also occasionally unclear, and transitional phrases lack smooth integration. Paragraphing is present and separates the distinct themes of the essay, but the logical progression between sentences within paragraphs requires tighter control. This aligns well with the requirements for Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'emotional connection', 'economical effect', and 'ott platforms'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'indivisual' instead of 'individuals', 'digitial' instead of 'digital', 'favours' instead of 'favour', 'convinent' instead of 'convenient', 'infinte' instead of 'infinite', 'alters' instead of 'alter', and 'hassel' instead of 'hassle'. While these errors occur with some frequency, they do not severely impede communication as the writer's meaning generally remains clear. This lexical control matches the descriptors for Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety. However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the essay. Examples include fragment sentences ('As its just one click away.' and 'As one can watch whatever they want to...'), subject-verb agreement issues ('Many people still favours', 'others disagree and supports'), and punctuation errors such as unnecessary commas ('On the other hand, It's much more...'). These errors are noticeable and require the reader to occasionally re-read parts of the text, though they rarely obscure the overall meaning completely. This performance is consistent with a Band 5.5 score.
