Student answer (Band 5.0)

A number of individuals argue that in modern digital age every kind of entertainment is available online. So, there is no further importance of cinemas and theaters. In contrast, others claim the importance of cinemas and theraters regarding economic and cultural point of view.

From my perspective, the people having the first point of view are most probably the one with an introvert personality or those who belive that such kind of entertainment is just waste of money and time such as buisness professionals. As well as the people who can't afford such kind of activites they do also argue that it could be watched online, then what is the need to spend time and money. However, I think one of the key advantage would be the control on children's screen type, time and what they are opting or learning could be controlled.

On the other hand, I would argue that there still alot of importance for cinemas and theater from the economic points of view. Culturally I cannot explain much because being a Muslim I think there is not much cultural importance for cinemas and theaters. Cinemas provides a lot economic benefit to a country and individuals in forms of tax, revenue and business etc. Moreover, it could allow to spend quality time with friends of family.

As far as, I am concerened i would argue that there is still alot of importance for cinemas and theater still it this modern digit

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response attempts to discuss both views regarding the importance of theatres and cinemas, but it suffers from a major limitation in task completion. Firstly, it fails to meet the minimum word count requirement, falling short at 243 words. Additionally, the development of ideas is superficial and occasionally repetitive. While you state your position in the introduction and concluding fragments, the arguments lack sufficient extension and support. For instance, the claim regarding why some people prefer online entertainment focuses narrowly on introverted personalities and screen time control for children rather than broader economic or digital accessibility arguments. Furthermore, the cultural perspective is dismissed abruptly due to personal background. Due to the incomplete word count and underdeveloped ideas, this falls into the lower-middle band.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay attempts a standard four-paragraph structure, but the organization is severely hindered by the abrupt termination of the response in the final sentence ('digit'). Cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'From my perspective', and 'On the other hand' are used to signal shifts in perspective, yet referencing and logical progression are frequently disrupted by awkward phrasing and limited transitional linking between sentences. Paragraphing is attempted, but the body paragraphs lack clear internal coherence, particularly in the second paragraph where multiple disparate ideas are jumbled together without clear logical sequencing. As a result, the overall progression feels disjointed, leading to a score in the lower range.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with several lexical errors and awkward collocations. Examples of weak or incorrect word choices include 'theraters' (spelling error), 'screen type' instead of 'screen time', and 'economic points of view' used inconsistently. While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'introvert personality' and 'buisness professionals' (spelling error), the range remains limited and inadequate for a higher band. Frequent spelling mistakes ('belive', 'activites', 'concerened') and imprecise word choices strain the reader's comprehension at times, placing this criterion solidly in the band 5 category.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are multiple grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the people having the first point of view are most probably the one') and awkward conditional or hypothetical phrasing ('if it could be watched online, then what is the need'). Punctuation and article usage are also inconsistent, as seen in phrases like 'a lot economic benefit' and 'friends of family'. While simple sentences are generally understandable, errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, justifying a band 5 score.
