Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, the significance of cimemas and theatres has become a matter of subject. A significant number of individuals are of view that internet is replacing the need of entertainment centers, while others hold the belief that cinemas is extremely crucial for not only economy but also for traditions and culture. In this essay, i will elucidate both perspective before presenting my viewpoint.
On one hand, a substantial number of citizens believe that cinemas and theatres are diminishing their charm, mainly due to cutting-edge technological devices. This is evident from the fact that technology offers feasibility and reliability. Moreover, several people prioritize isolation to spend time in solace while watching movies. In addition, this method is cost-effective and convenient. People can watch movies without any time restrictions and rules. To illustrate, there are a plethora of websites to watch series as well as movies, which are free of cost. Another key merit is, it also saves a lot of time of travelling and waiting in long queues. For instance, young generation can save some time from their academic studies to unwind and can watch movies at home, while utilizing websites rather than going out to cinemas that can waste a lot of time. Therefore, it is understandable why people support this suggestion.
On another hand, others believe that cinemas and theatres symbolizes our culture and traditions. The entertainment industry plays a vital role in economic growth of a particular country. Furtherore, film industries reflects nation's history and contemporary affairs. A perfect example would be historical movies that leads to awareness of historic moments and methods. Moreover, cinemas are the main attraction of international tourists. In this way, economy can significanty climb up.
From my perspective, a balance approach must be kept in order to enhance the benefits of both concepts. Admittedly, theatres offer big screen and more HD animations, however, this function is also accessible at home with subsriptions. Although the beneficial ramifications are undeniable, but it also promotes isolation that can jeoperdize youth's mental health.
To sum up, both arguments are acceptable to some extent, however, a balance is essential. Moving forward, it is essential to enhance the benefits of it while minizing its negative imoacts on indiciduals and communities as a whoel

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both the view that theatres are losing importance due to online entertainment and the counter-argument that they remain culturally and economically vital. A personal opinion is stated in the introduction and reinforced in the conclusion. Ideas are adequately extended and supported with relevant examples, such as reference to historical movies and the convenience of online streaming platforms. However, there is a tendency to slightly over-generalise points, and the personal opinion could have been integrated more deeply into the body paragraphs. Overall, the task is successfully fulfilled, aligning well with the requirements for a Band 6.5 or 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a clear logical organisation and overall progression. Information and arguments are grouped into distinct paragraphs, starting with an introduction, followed by body paragraphs addressing both sides and the personal view, and concluding with a summary. Cohesive devices such as 'On one hand', 'Moreover', and 'To illustrate' are used reasonably well, although some transitional elements feel slightly mechanical or repetitive ('On another hand' instead of 'On the other hand'). Paragraphing is used appropriately, but referencing and cohesion occasionally show minor lapses, fitting comfortably within Band 6.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'cutting-edge', 'cost-effective', 'plethora', and 'ramifications'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'cimemas' instead of 'cinemas', 'i' instead of 'I', 'perspective' instead of 'perspectives', 'significanty', and 'subsriptions'. Additionally, collocations like 'a balance approach' contain grammatical slips. Despite these errors, meaning is generally clear, placing the performance in the Band 6.0 range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional and relative clauses. There is a reasonable variety of sentence forms, but numerous grammatical and punctuation errors are present. Examples include 'cinemas is extremely crucial' (subject-verb agreement), 'leads to awareness' rather than 'leading', and sentence structure errors in the conclusion such as 'minimizing its negative imoacts on indiciduals and communities as a whoel'. Although these errors occur frequently, they rarely impede overall communication, warranting a Band 6.0 score.
