IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people say that in the digital age, theatres and cinemas are no longer important as people can watch all the entertainment they want online. Others argue that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this contamporary society, it is highly debated that theaters and the cinemas are no longer remain essential as all the entertainment that people really want to watch is available online and they can watch their favourite movies and dramas by sitting in their homes. Conversely to it, other people think that they are still significantly important not only for econimic but also for cultural growth. From my perspective, people should go to cinemas and theatres to watch any thing according to their taste. The main reason is that we can plan it with our friends or family to spend our leisure time and to make it memmorable journey.In this essay i will discuss the both views and also provide my personal point of view.

There are many people that do not like to go to the cinemas and theaters because they just see it not only as a waste of time but also the wastage of money and resources. Instead of going to different place for entertainment, they prefer to watch the dramas of their taste by sitting at any place. the main reason of it is that they dont want to spend their money on the stuff that is already available for free to watch.

Contrary to it, there are numous thoughts available that supports the idea of going to cinemas to watch comedy or thrilling scenes. We can also plan the hangout with our relatives or close ones to make our hangout memorable and in this way we can spend many hours with our close ones that just feels like some mins.

I totally believe that we should go to the theaters for refreshment and shold also plan hangouts with our friends. It also gives us a mental peace and helps to stable our both mental and physical healths.

To conclude, there are two types of people but i think we should go to theaters and cinemas to refresh our minds and to take a break from the grind of daily life.
