Student answer (Band 5.5)
People have different views about whether theaters and cinemas are not significant anymore or they are still crucial both financially and culturally as digital world give access to people to watch entertainment online. I can understand both perspectives but i believe that theater and cinemas are still essential.
On one hand people believe that, theaters and cinemas are outdated now. The main reason is that individuals have the access to watch content of their interests digitally. For example, people can watch dramas, shows and any other content of amusement without physical struggles. As a result of which, trend to go to cinemas to watch blockbuster movies and shows is no more effective now. Therefore theaters are losing their productivity as source of entertainment for people.
On the other hand i believe that, theaters and cinemas are still beneficial. This is largerly because they are best way for individuals to amuse themselves in a conventional way which not only enhance cultural values but also gives access to people to revel. Moreover it also boost economy by selling tickets and giving jobs to the staff members which are hired for services. For instance, more cinemas more employments which directly boost financial development of state in additon to this individuals get to know about values of their traditions which develop mutual bonding. Consequently, it strengthens the significance of traditions and economy. Therefore, significance of theaters is still vital for culture and economy.
In conclusion, theaters and cinemas still play a vital role in various aspects and can not be zoned out even if its digital era.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that theaters and cinemas are no longer important due to digital entertainment, and that they remain culturally and economically vital—while also providing a clear personal opinion. The writer presents relevant ideas, such as convenience of online viewing versus cultural preservation and job creation, but these ideas tend to be somewhat repetitive and under-developed, particularly in the second body paragraph where arguments lack specific, concrete examples. For instance, the statement 'more cinemas more employments' remains a broad assertion rather than a fully expanded point. The position is maintained throughout the essay. This performance aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear organizational structure, including an introduction, two body paragraphs representing different views, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct arguments. Cohesive devices are employed to signal transitions, such as 'On one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, phrases like 'As a result of which' and 'largerly because' show awkward linking, and the internal progression within the body paragraphs occasionally feels repetitive rather than advancing logically. Overall, the logical flow is evident, supporting a Band 6 score.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'outdated', 'conventional', and 'financial development'. However, there are noticeable word choice errors, spelling mistakes, and collocation issues, such as 'largerly' (largely), 'in additon' (in addition), 'digital world give access' (gives access), and 'zoned out'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score. The repetition of basic words like 'significance', 'theaters', and 'entertainment' further prevents the response from reaching a higher band, placing it firmly at Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over multi-clause sentences such as 'The main reason is that individuals have the access to watch content of their interests digitally.' However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation issues throughout the text, including missing articles ('the digital age', 'the staff members'), incorrect verb forms ('digital world give access'), and comma splices ('I can understand both perspectives but i believe...'). Despite these recurring errors, they rarely impede overall communication, as the reader can still discern the writer's meaning. This balance of complex structures and persistent inaccuracies corresponds to a Band 5.5 or Band 6 score.
