Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people say that in the digital age, cinema halls and movies are no longer important because people can watch all slot movies on online. Due to increase in the technology and development in OTT platforms, all the movies are available in OTTs and in social media, even they very much cheaper and allow the subscribers to watch all the movies for the cost of one movie ticket at the theaters.

For example, in a theatre ther is movie from Marvel, to watch in it in the theartre the price of hte ticket is around 1000 dollars, now due to increase in the technology we can have a subscribition in some of the OTT platforms, offer more than one movie to match.

However, some persons contradicts that theaters and cinemas are still important to hold the economy and the culture.

This is because some people like conservatives, always try to protect the culture. They do not want to experience the new technology and media. And some people believe thinks that going to theatres to watch the movies helps to make the movie to have a big gross.

This is due to the various prices of the tickets at theates.

I believe the both of them have equal weightage because they balance the situations of the current era.

Where one makes in development in of the technology, helps in digitalization and saves the persons money.

While, the other focuses on protecting the culture that this generaiton have not seen and in developing the economy of a country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on theatres and cinemas and providing a personal opinion. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed, which aligns with Band 5 descriptors. For instance, the argument regarding the economy and culture is vague, mentioning that conservatives try to protect the culture without further elaboration. Similarly, the example of a Marvel movie costing '1000 dollars' is unrealistic and undermines the strength of the point being made. While the writer's position is stated, the supporting arguments lack depth and clear extension, preventing the task achievement score from reaching a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates some organisation with basic paragraphing, but there is a lack of clear overall progression and logical flow. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or awkward, such as starting paragraphs with abrupt transitional phrases like 'For example, in a theatre ther is movie from Marvel...' and 'However, some persons contradicts...'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the mechanical use of linking words fails to create smooth transitions between ideas. Paragraphs are also excessively short and fragmented, hindering the structural unity of the essay.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with several noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of awkward word choice and collocation include 'watch all slot movies on online', 'increase in the technology', and 'some persons contradicts'. The writer attempts to use less common terms like 'subscribers', 'conservatives', and 'weightage', but inaccuracies in word formation (e.g., 'generaiton' and 'theates') and restricted range limit the lexical score. While communication is maintained, the vocabulary remains at a limited level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay displays a very limited range of sentence structures, with frequent grammatical and punctuation errors. Most complex sentence attempts are faulty, such as in the concluding sentence: 'Where one makes in development in of the technology, helps in digitalization and saves the persons money.' There are persistent errors with prepositions, articles, subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some people believe thinks'), and sentence fragments. These errors frequently cause strain and difficulty for the reader, placing the grammar performance firmly within the Band 5 category.
