Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the modern world, some people argue that theatres and cinemas are no longer significant as people can watch all movies on online. Whereas, somebody belives that cinemas and theatres are still important both economically and culturally. The upcoming essay will examine both arguments and give my own opinion.

Firstly, people are became more digitalised in this modern age, and there are lots online of source for the entertainment. Then, public did not want to go theatres for movies, they easily enjoy films or series ant home with family. After purchase subscription of any entertain plateform (such as Netflix, Hotstar), where we can easily accessable to watch trending shows, movies and series. Afterthat, we donot have to travel, buying tickets for cinema, we can enjoy cinema at own place without any efforts.

On the other hand, the natural or real vibes and feeling of movies come when we watch in the cinema hall. So, theatres and cinema are still essential both economically and culturally because theatres play crucial role as finacially for nation and it also represent the culture of the nation. As compared to watching shows or movies in cinema hall is far more better than watching through online.

In my own perspectives, digital and physical entertainment are comparetively different. But, I personally believe that we are in digital age but theatres and cinemas are always important as entertainment purpose.

In conclusion, there is ongoing debate about cinemas and halls are no longer important as viewers can see all the drama through digital sources, and other ague that it still essential for both financially and culturally. I strongly support the view of importance of cinema and theatres in this generation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The student addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views (online accessibility versus cultural and economic importance of cinemas) and presenting a clear personal position. In the introduction and conclusion, the writer states their stance: "I personally believe that we are in digital age but theatres and cinemas are always important as entertainment purpose." However, the main body ideas are somewhat repetitive and lack deep development or specific examples. For instance, the economic point is stated simply as "theatres play crucial role as finacially for nation" without elaboration. This puts the response securely at Band 6, where all parts are addressed with relevant ideas, but some are under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay is divided into logical paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs representing different views, a personal perspective paragraph, and a conclusion. Transitional phrases such as "Firstly," "On the other hand," and "In conclusion" are used to structure the text, though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. There are also noticeable cohesion and referencing issues, such as "After purchase subscription of any entertain plateform... where we can easily accessable," where clause structures and cohesive ties break down slightly. Nevertheless, there is a clear overall arrangement, justifying a Band 6 score for cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student attempts a range of vocabulary appropriate to the topic, such as "digitalised," "subscription," and "economically and culturally." However, there are numerous word choice and word formation errors throughout the text, including "online of source" instead of 'sources online', "entertain plateform" instead of 'entertainment platform', and "easily accessable" instead of 'easily accessible'. Spelling and phrasing errors occur frequently (e.g., "belives," "Afterthat," "finacially"). These errors do not completely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to Band 5, as the range is limited and noticeable errors cause some difficulty for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ("people are became more digitalised"), incorrect prepositions ("at own place" instead of 'in our own homes'), and tense inconsistencies ("theatres play crucial role as finacially for nation"). Punctuation and sentence boundary errors also occur, such as sentence fragments and run-on structures. Because the complex sentences attempted are frequently faulty and errors are persistent throughout the text, the performance aligns with Band 5.
