Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response attempts to discuss both views regarding the importance of theatres and cinemas versus online entertainment, and it provides a personal opinion. However, the candidate fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, stopping abruptly at only 202 words. This under-length issue leads to under-developed ideas and an incomplete conclusion, as the final sentence trails off ("theat"). While the arguments regarding economic impact and cultural connection are introduced, they lack sufficient elaboration and support to fully satisfy the prompt. Consequently, this leads to a Band 5.0 score for Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay attempts to use standard organizational markers such as "One the on hand" and "While on the other hand" to structure the paragraphs. However, paragraphing is disrupted by the incomplete ending and the brief nature of the text. Cohesive devices are at times mechanical or inaccurate, as seen in typos like "orhers" and "acces". Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall logical progression is hindered by frequent spelling mistakes and the abrupt cessation of the final sentence. Therefore, these coherence issues place the response firmly in the Band 5.0 category.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, featuring frequent spelling errors such as "acess", "orhers", "opion", "becuse", "economilcally", "genrate", "revenew", and "condected". While the student attempts some topic-related vocabulary like "entertainment", "economy", and "culture", the high frequency of lexical and spelling inaccuracies impedes communication and strains the reader's understanding at times. There is little control over less common lexical items, keeping the vocabulary score at a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing contains a mix of simple and attempted complex sentence forms, but control is weak. There are numerous grammatical errors, such as "there are no need of paying money by watching online" and "give attachment of the people to their culture". Punctuation and sentence structures are frequently faulty, leading to awkward phrasing and reduced clarity. The high density of errors throughout the short text indicates that the writer cannot yet produce error-free sentences consistently, reflecting a Band 5.0 performance.
