Student answer (Band 5.5)
There is an ongoing debate about whether in the silver screen era, theatres and cinemas have lost there important as individuals can watch online at home what they want. However, others believe that theatres and cinemas are still crucial both economically and culturally. This essay will examine both views before giving my own opinion.
On the one hand, online entertainment is quite cost-effective. Individuals do not need to pay a lot of money on purchasing expensive tickets. Only one subscription on Netflix and other websites provide various variety of content. Moreover people who are living far from the main city and cinemas can enjoy their favourite movie or web series at home according to their pace. They do not to spent money on transportation cost. For instance, a university going student and a office worker have a hectic lifestyle They do not have enough time to make plan for cinema or theatre it would be beneficial for them.
Subsequently, cinemas and theatres play a significant role in economy growth and culture preservation.Furthermore economically it creats a considerable amount of employment for actors, directors, ticket sellers to food stallers. Moreover cinemas preserve culture traditions and heritage for up-coming and younger generations.Secondly, cinemas and theatres provide HD environment which is especially created for individuals .This provides great ambience and breathtaking environment so that viewers can enjoy the movie. To illustrate, in Pakistan there are huge crowd of people on ticket counter for purchasing tickets on the releasing day of bollywood movie.
In conclusion, although online entertainment is convinent and provide a lot content However cinemas are most important and preserve culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—that cinemas and theatres are no longer important due to online streaming, and that they remain crucial economically and culturally—while also providing a clear personal opinion in the introduction. Ideas are generally well-supported with relevant examples, such as mentioning Netflix, cost-effectiveness, and cultural preservation in Pakistan. However, some arguments lack full extension and suffer from minor generalisations. The response meets the task requirements well, resulting in a solid performance for Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response is organized into clear paragraphs, starting with an introduction, followed by body paragraphs for each view, and a concluding sentence. Logical sequencing is present, and transitional phrases like 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, cohesion is occasionally mechanical or faulty, as seen with abrupt transitions like 'Subsequently' and some fragmented sentences within the body paragraphs. Paragraphing is adequate, but referencing and flow could be smoother to reach a higher band.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'cost-effective', 'cultural preservation', and 'breathtaking environment'. However, there are notable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'lost there important' instead of 'importance', 'various variety' instead of 'wide variety', and 'food stallers' instead of 'food vendors'. Spelling and word-form issues occasionally surface, but they do not impede overall communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional-like structures. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several noticeable errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('people who are living... can enjoy', 'there are huge crowd'), missing auxiliary verbs ('They do not to spent money'), and incorrect punctuation or run-on structures, such as combining independent clauses without proper conjunctions. Despite these frequent errors, the meaning remains clear.
