Student answer (Band 5.0)

While many people argued that in digital age , theatres and cinemas are no longer valuable as individual can watch all the entertainment they want online. Other put forward their opnion that theatres and cinemas are still important. In my opinion theatres and cinemas are no longer imporant as people can watch entertainment they want online.

On the one side of the argument, there are various people who argued that in the modern age, theatres and cinemas are no longer important because peoples can watch all the entertainment they want online. To eloborate it more, In the modern era there are lot of websites or apps that specially made for movies and webseries so individuals can watch everything they want. For example, there are various apps where people can watch movies and webseries online such as, Netflix and Amazone prime. Moreover, individuals buy premium packs off thses apps in low price as compared to cinema tickets. For instance, if anyone want to watch the movie in cinema firstly the spent money in travelling and after that they buy a ticket from the counter and in the interval of the movie the buy popcorn bucket so it spent a more money to watch money in cinmea as compared to watching online.

Despite the afact that, I am of the view that theatres and cinema are still important both economicall and culturally. Furthermore, when individuals watch movies in cinema they attract more emotionally. Hence, when you watch something on big screen it may effect you emotonally and mentally.

In conclusion, although both views are commonly held in a society. I believe that in this modern era people can watch everthing online and it is a easy way to watch everthing.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views, although the student's personal position is somewhat contradictory between the introduction and the conclusion. In the introduction, the writer states that theatres and cinemas are no longer important, but the body paragraph suddenly introduces the opposing view by stating, 'Despite the afact that, I am of the view that theatres and cinema are still important both economicall and culturally.' This sudden shift creates confusion regarding the true stance of the writer. Furthermore, while the arguments regarding streaming services are relevant, the counter-arguments are underdeveloped and brief. The ideas are presented but lack sufficient extension and deep analysis to reach higher bands. Therefore, the task response is awarded a band score of 5.0, reflecting a partial and somewhat confused treatment of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps establish a basic structural layout. However, the logical progression is flawed due to confusing transitional phrases and contradictory statements. For instance, the phrase 'Despite the afact that' is used incorrectly to introduce the writer's opinion, disconnecting the flow of ideas between paragraphs. Cohesive devices are frequently repetitive or misused, such as the repeated use of 'moreover,' 'for instance,' and 'furthermore' without clear logical relationships. Additionally, referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall cohesion feels mechanical rather than natural. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal organization of ideas requires better logical sequencing to guide the reader smoothly. Consequently, a band score of 5.0 is appropriate for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used throughout the essay is basic, repetitive, and limited in range. The student frequently repeats simple words and phrases such as 'watch entertainment,' 'movies and webseries,' and 'spend money.' There are also noticeable spelling and word choice errors, including 'opnion' instead of opinion, 'imporant' instead of important, 'eloborate' instead of elaborate, 'Amazone prime' instead of Amazon Prime, 'off thses' instead of of these, 'economicall' instead of economically, and 'afact' instead of fact. While the meaning can generally be understood despite these vocabulary and spelling errors, the range is restricted and prevents the writer from achieving a higher band score. Based on these limitations, a band score of 5.0 is assigned.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple and coordinate sentences. When the student attempts complex structures, they are frequently faulty or marred by errors. Examples of grammatical errors include incomplete sentence structures, missing articles, and tense inconsistencies, such as 'While many people argued that in digital age , theatres and cinemas are no longer valuable as individual can watch all the entertainment they want online,' where the dependent clause is punctuated as a complete sentence and lacks a main clause. Other errors include 'peoples can watch,' 'is a easy way,' and 'it spent a more money.' Frequent errors in grammar and punctuation cause some difficulty for the reader. Therefore, a band score of 5.0 is given for Grammatical Range and Accuracy.
