Student answer (Band 5.5)
People have different views about whether theatres and cinemas are important in the digital age after the introduction of online entertainment. While some believe that they are no longer important as people can watch all the entertainment they want online, while other argue that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally. This essay will discuss both prespectives before explaining why I believe it is important to have theatres and ciniemas in digital age.
One one hand, some people believe that they are no longer needed as people can watch all amusement online. One of the reason for this is that in digital age watching content online is cheaper and often free. In this modern age, platforms have been developed from where u can access all the enterainments cheapers or mostly free. People don't need to buy expensive movie or show tickets to watch a movie. For example, you can get a monthly subscription of widely known platforms like netflix or amazon prime, which is alot cheaper than theatre ticket for each movie. As a result, more people prefer online platform to watch these fun activities as they are more affordable.
Another reason is that, it is more feasible to watch entertainment online. One of the major reason is that people don't need to travel to kilometers to watch a shows. Individuals can watch anytime, anyday they want in their comfortable own house. Therefore, supporters of this view will argue that it is more fesible and cheaper to watch entertainments online.
One the other hand, others argue that theatres and cinemas still carry the same value and beneficial economically and culturally. One of the major reason is that theatres carry a cultural value and art, the people who love to watch theatre shows only prefer to watch them in theatre not online. For instance, the people who belong from media deparment who admire the value of their art deeply, usually prefer to watch showes in theatre. Moreover cinemas and theatre can provide economical benfits to the people who creates shows and movies.
In my view, in digital age theatres and cinemas are no longer important as people can watch entertainment online because its cheaper and more feasible. For example, if you want to watch a show at night 3 am, you wont need to travel to cinemas to watch, you can watch it at your house anytime. Moreover these days home projector has also been intoduced to give same feeling as we are watching in a theatre.
In conclusion, both views have their advantages and disadvantages. However, I firmly agree that theatres play no role in digital age and watching online entertainment is more budget friendly and feasible

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—the decline of theatres in the digital age versus their continued economic and cultural importance—and presents a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is uneven. The counter-argument discussing the cultural and economic importance of theatres is brief and somewhat superficial, using generic claims such as 'theatres carry a cultural value and art'. Furthermore, the student's final stance contains a slight internal contradiction in the conclusion ('both views have their advantages... However, I firmly agree that theatres play no role') though the core position is understandable. Ideas are relevant, but some supporting points lack depth and rely on repetition, placing this performance at Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay is divided into clear paragraphs and demonstrates an overall logical structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed to signal transitions, such as 'One one hand', 'Another reason is that', and 'In conclusion'. However, there are notable mechanical flaws and unnatural phrasings in cohesion and referencing, such as the grammatical error in 'While some believe... while other argue' and 'One one hand'. Paragraphing is attempted, but some body paragraphs are fragmented. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and logical progression is sometimes hindered by abrupt shifts in argumentation, leading to a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully communicating ideas about digital entertainment, subscriptions, and affordability. Less common vocabulary items are attempted, such as 'subscription', 'affordable', and 'feasible', but there are frequent word choice errors, spelling mistakes ('perspectives', 'ciniemas', 'deparment', 'showes', 'intoduced'), and informal contractions like 'u'. Collocations are sometimes awkward, for example, 'travel to kilometers' instead of 'travel many kilometres'. While communication is not severely impeded, these lexical inaccuracies and spelling errors prevent the response from achieving a higher band, making Band 5.5 appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating conditional structures and relative clauses (e.g., 'If you want to watch a show...'). However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in verb agreement, prepositions, and sentence structure, such as 'while other argue', 'One of the reason', and 'you wont need to travel to cinemas to watch, you can watch it'. Punctuation errors and missing articles are also noticeable throughout the text. Because errors occur frequently and occasionally strain the reader's comprehension, the performance aligns with Band 5.0.
