Student answer (Band 5.0)
Several individuals argue that in modern technology, theatres and cinemas are not vital now because most of the populace can see all excitement they want digital tech. Other citizens say that economically and culturally theatres and cinemas are still significant.
Present, it is the generation of modern digital technology. People are taking advantage of new technolgy like mobile phone and wifi by doing work just by sitting in home. They are also taking benefit by just clicking one option to watch online vidoes.
In the modern era, scientists are inventing more curious things for which we have no idea. If we move to 50 years before, there were nothing invented. Families write lwtters to their love ones and there were no cinemas and theatres where people can watch movies and funny shows. There was no digital tech. However, now many inventions are invented for which we have no idea before. If we move 25 years before, cinemas and theatres were constructed where citizens and watch tv programs and funny shows. It was the new thing for individuals that they can watch tv programs on a big screen of cinemas. But today scientists invented mobile phones, computers, laptops, so we can watch tv programs and shows just by sitting in home. And in future cinemas and theatres will be no longer vital.
CInemas and theatres and not important as economically and culturally because there is no culture to watch shows at cinemas. Friends anf family members go to cinemas just for fun and nothing else.
In my opinion, i would say that cinema and theatres are no more longer significant because modern digital tech had defeated cinemas by creating small screens so, anybody can watch tv programs on their mobile screens everywhere.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response attempts to address both views presented in the prompt and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion, arguing that cinemas are no longer significant. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. For instance, the discussion regarding historical context and technological evolution ("If we move to 50 years before, there were nothing invented") lacks depth and sophisticated support. The points tend to be circular, repeatedly returning to the idea that phones and computers allow people to watch content at home without fully exploring the cultural or economic aspects mentioned in the prompt. While the main parts of the task are touched upon, the arguments remain underdeveloped, placing this performance firmly in the Band 5 category.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay displays some structural organisation with distinct paragraph breaks, but overall progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and a lack of clear logical flow. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as "Present, it is the generation of modern digital technology" and "If we move to 50 years before". Referencing between sentences is often unclear, and transitional phrases fail to smoothly connect the historical comparisons to the main arguments. Paragraphing is attempted, but individual paragraphs lack internal cohesion and fail to build a unified argument. Therefore, the overall management of cohesion reflects Band 5 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on everyday words and phrases such as "funny shows", "big screen", and "digital tech". There are noticeable lexical errors and inappropriate collocations throughout the text, including "see all excitement" instead of "entertainment", "scientists are inventing more curious things", and "lwtters to their love ones". Spelling mistakes like "technolgy" and "vidoes" also occur. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey a basic meaning, the limited range and frequent inaccuracies constrain the score to Band 4.5, which is rounded to 5.0 based on standard half-band practices.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The essay demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex constructions. Frequent grammatical errors significantly impede the clarity of the writing. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ("there were nothing invented", "cinemas and theatres and not important"), incorrect prepositions ("sitting in home"), and tense inconsistencies ("today scientists invented mobile phones"). Punctuation and capitalisation errors are also present, such as "CInemas". Because the frequency of errors is high and causes considerable difficulty for the reader, the grammar performance aligns with Band 4.
