Student answer (Band 5.5)
There are many people in today's time who think that cinemas are no longer important because every movie and TV serial is available online. So if we talk about the thinking of these kind of people then we will come o know that they are correct at their place because everything is available online these days. They think that cinemas are waste of time and money because when anyone wants to go to the cinema or theattre then they need money for tickets and on the other hand, they require specific time spare from their daily life.
Furthermore, no one have enough time to do efforts just for the sake of watching any movie in the cinema. So instead of going to the cinemas people prefer to watch all of this content online on their laptops and mobile phones. On the other hand, if anyone wants to watch any specific drama or movie with their family then they can watch it on LED TV in their homes sitting in their lounge and if they want to eat something nice while watching movie then they have alot of options these days and they can order food from online Apps.So they can feel exactly like they're watching movie in the cinema.
Moreover, there are some people on the opposite side who thinks that cinemas are still important in the present time. These people are correct at their place too because they think that the cinemas are the traditional setup which is coming from the last 5 decades. The cinemas and theatres give chance to the people to enjoy with their families and enjoy outing. They think that cinemas reduced the stress and helps to enhance mood.On the other hand, watching movie in the cinema gives you much exposure. They believe that, cinemas and theatres are very important both cultrally and economically.
In my opinion, i think that cinemas and theatres are much important because we can watch anything online but the exposure we get from cinemas and theatres are exceptional. In todays time, everyone is isolated and living 9pm to 5pm lifestyle and they don't have time for watching movies online even they don't get time for their families. So on weekends they can spare some time for their families and get some outdoor exposure by going to the cinemas and theatres.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that cinemas are unimportant due to online streaming, and that they remain culturally and economically vital—while also presenting a clear personal opinion. Ideas are generally relevant, but the support tends to be repetitive and somewhat colloquial. For instance, the phrase 'correct at their place' is repeated multiple times, and the arguments regarding time, money, and exposure are under-developed rather than deeply explored. While a clear position is maintained throughout, the lack of fully extended and nuanced supporting examples keeps the response at a Band 6.0 level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement and follows a standard four-paragraph structure. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or overused, as seen with repetitive connectors like 'So', 'Furthermore', and 'Moreover' starting numerous sentences. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and spacing or punctuation issues (such as missing spaces after periods and commas) detract from the flow. Paragraphing is present and separates the main ideas, but the logical progression within paragraphs is sometimes hindered by repetitive phrasing, placing this criterion at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey basic arguments about online entertainment versus traditional cinemas. There are attempts at less common vocabulary such as 'isolation', 'exposure', and 'traditional setup', but these are accompanied by noticeable word-choice inaccuracies and awkward phrasing, such as 'thinking of these kind of people' and 'do efforts'. Spelling is generally acceptable, but frequent repetitive use of basic words like 'movies', 'cinemas', and 'online' limits the lexical range to a Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating conditional clauses and relative clauses. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several noticeable errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('no one have enough time', 'theatre and cinemas are... thinks'), missing articles ('watching movie in the cinema'), and run-on sentences joined inappropriately with commas ('...watching movie online even they don't get time...'). These errors occasionally cause slight strain for the reader, aligning the grammar with a Band 5.5.
