Student answer (Band 5.0)
In the past, people preferred to go for theatres but now cinemas considered to be more important entertainment source. It is often argued that in this age, there is no further need for theaters and cinemas, because people can enjoy watching their favourite plays by online. Some people belive that these are considered to me more important for both economic and culture. I will explain both these views with reasons and examples in my essay.
Firstly, people thought that they can improve financial condition of their country by going to cinemas. When people buy tickets for moving cinemas, while their financial condition can be enhanced. For example, universal cinemas have expensive tickets that are enough for social workers. Some people deprived from justice only because of their poverty, if these cinemas helped them, so they can take money from them. Secondly, people can represent their culture by going to cinema. We can refresh our memories. Celebirties work for promotion of their culture. For example, when they perform at theatres, people buy tickets and go to cinemas or theatres in order to watch them. They have chance to promote their culture because most people may visit from abroad.
However, some people believe that it is waste of time and money. Although some people are busy in their work, they have no time to go. For example, they can watch their favourite movies online. they also have option to skip some scenes. Furthermore, people have no money for leisure. They can not afford such expensive tickets, so they watch online. Next age is very advanced, there is no chance for theatres to survive.
In my conclusion, Theatres and cinemas are real beauty of country. Because it is the source of connecting with people. we may have chance to connect with friends by visiting cinemas. In my own views, cinemas and theatres are still important for culture and also economically.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—that theatres and cinemas are outdated due to online entertainment, and that they remain economically and culturally important—while also providing a personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas suffers from a lack of clarity and logical reasoning in places. For instance, the argument that ticket sales help social workers or that poor people can take money from cinemas is somewhat confusing and lacks sound economic backing. Furthermore, the explanation regarding cultural promotion is repetitive. While a position is stated throughout, the ideas are limited and sometimes under-developed, aligning best with Band 5.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs with basic cohesive markers such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'However', and 'In my conclusion'. However, the overall progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by confusing logical links and abrupt transitions. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal cohesion of the body paragraphs is faulty. For example, sentences within the second paragraph jump abruptly from financial conditions to social workers without clear transitional logic. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in 'they can take money from them'. These issues prevent the essay from achieving a higher band, placing it firmly at Band 5.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary to address the topic, including words like 'entertainment', 'financial condition', 'promotion', and 'culture'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices throughout the text, such as 'moving cinemas' instead of 'movie cinemas', 'deprived from justice' instead of 'deprived of justice', and 'next age' instead of 'the future'. Spelling is generally acceptable, but frequent word choice and collocation errors cause some difficulty for the reader and restrict the score to Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in tense usage, article omission, prepositions, and sentence construction. Examples include 'cinemas considered to be' (missing auxiliary verb), 'by online' instead of 'online', and 'people may visit from abroad' lacking an object. Punctuation errors are also present, such as lowercase letters at the beginning of sentences ('they also have option'). While basic communication is maintained, the high frequency of grammatical errors places this response at Band 5.
