Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response only partially addresses the prompt because it is severely under-length, containing only 124 words against the required 250-word minimum. While the writer manages to introduce the topic and begin discussing the first view regarding online platforms, the essay breaks off abruptly before exploring the counter-argument or providing a personal opinion. Consequently, the position is not fully clear, and the ideas are severely under-developed. According to the Band 5 descriptors, the task is addressed only partially, and the lack of completion limits the score significantly. To improve, the student must ensure all parts of the prompt are fully explored with adequate length and supporting details.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text shows some basic organizational structure, attempting an introduction and an opening body paragraph with transitional markers such as 'On the one hand'. However, due to the incomplete nature of the response, overall progression is limited, and the second paragraph stops mid-thought. Paragraphing is initiated but not maintained for a full essay structure. Cohesive devices like 'whereas' and 'For instance' are used, but referencing is sometimes imprecise, as seen in 'availability of its sources'. Based on these factors, the writing aligns most closely with Band 5, showing some organization but lacking a clear overall progression due to truncation.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student demonstrates a minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task, utilizing terms such as 'entertainment factor', 'digital age', and 'platforms'. However, there are notable word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'the need of theatres and cinemas are no longer necessay' and 'online platforms has take control'. Spelling errors like 'necessay' and 'willl' are present, along with repetitive phrasing. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey basic meaning, the noticeable errors and limited flexibility place this response firmly in the Band 5 category.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as using subordinate clauses with 'whereas' and 'because of'. However, control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. There are several noticeable grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the need... are', 'platforms has take') and tense inaccuracies. These frequent errors can occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. This performance aligns with Band 5, characterized by a limited range of structures and frequent errors in complex formations.
