Student answer (Band 5.5)

In modern World, some people reckon that theatres and cinemas lost their charm as all the entertainment people want they can watch them all online while other believed that economically and culturally both theatres and cenimas are still significant. Both theatres and cinemas are a soruce of entertainment and people really enjoy there. In this essay I'll shed light on both approaches, and share my honest opinion.

Initially,The commentators of first group argue that theatres and cinemas are no longer worth it in digital age, as everything is available over the internet, and can watch every entertainment which people want without any time restriction. Moreoever, they believes if they watch entertainments at home, this will save the travelling cost and time. For instance, A recent article by dawn reveals that nowadays more people likes watching movies at home rather then in cinemas and theatres.

Nevertheless, the commentators of other group reckon that watching entertainments in cinemas and theatres is not only a source of joy, but also a soruce of quality time with friends. Furthermore, In modern age old people still like to visit cinemas since they used to go theatres and cinemas in their adulthood. In addition, they found that youth starts to forget their culture of visiting cenima and theatres since they never enjoy it the way they should. For instance, a recent survey by BBC reveals people still likes to visit threatres and cinemas in digital era.

In my view, I personally think both group of commentators carry equal weight since so many people still likes to watch enetertainments in theatres and cinemas. Moreover, I reckon that both theatres and cinemas continues to play a significant economic and cultural role in society.

In conclusion, Although these venues still have considerable economic and cultural importance. In my view, they will continue to play important role

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on the relevance of theatres and cinemas in the digital age and providing a personal opinion. The writer establishes a clear position throughout the essay, stating in the introduction and body paragraphs that both venues remain relevant both culturally and economically. Ideas are presented and supported with examples, such as referencing an article and a survey, although some of these supporting points are somewhat generalized or vague, like 'a recent article by dawn' or 'a recent survey by BBC'. To reach a higher band, these examples could be developed with greater specificity and deeper elaboration. Nevertheless, the main task requirements are thoroughly covered and the core arguments are relevant and well-directed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a generally coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, separating the introduction, two body paragraphs discussing opposing views, a personal opinion paragraph, and a concluding sentence. However, the logical progression and mechanical cohesion show notable weaknesses. Cohesive devices are occasionally misused or awkwardly deployed, such as 'Initially,The commentators of first group' or the abrupt transitions between sentences. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the concluding paragraph is fragmented and incomplete, ending abruptly without a full summarizing thought. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion requires smoother transitions and more accurate use of conjunctions to guide the reader seamlessly through the arguments.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully communicating key ideas about the digital age, entertainment, and cultural relevance. There are frequent spelling errors ('cenimas', 'soruce', 'There', 'Moreoever', 'believes' instead of believe, 'threatres', 'enetertainments') and recurring typos or word-choice inaccuracies. While the writer attempts less common vocabulary items such as 'significant', 'commentators', and 'digital era', the density of spelling mistakes and lexical slips ('every entertainment which people want') restricts the band score. The range is sufficient to convey the message, but control over precise word forms and correct spelling needs considerable improvement.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses ('as all the entertainment people want they can watch them all online'). However, grammatical accuracy is notably weak, with frequent errors in subject-verb agreement ('other believed', 'youth starts to forget', 'both theatres and cinemas continues', 'people still likes'), article usage ('in modern World', 'in digital age'), and punctuation (spacing issues after commas and periods). Furthermore, some sentences are run-on or ungrammatical ('as everything is available over the internet, and can watch every entertainment which people want without any time restriction'). These errors cause some distraction, though meaning remains generally clear.
