Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is argued that an increasing number of individuals believe theatres and cinemas are not significant because of technological advancement. While many find it crucial for global economical growth and cultural values, I personally believe that in-theatre experience would give meaningful change to the society.
There are number of reasons why individual prefer enjoying the entertainment online. One possible reason is that it saves both time and cost-efficient which are absolutely essential thing in public's life. For instance, whenever we plan to watch a movie with our loved one's, we have to maintain a timeframe as well as buy tickets which can be sometimes frustrating if we don't get the tickets. Besides, one can easily watch the program for free in Youtube or Facebook live. Another compelling reason is that many devices can give the similar experience like cinema hall. For example, using the VR devices can deliver 3D printed scenes that feels like watching in the theatre.
Despite the above arguments, entertainment organisations help the country to create a ripple effect accross economical growth. Firstly, government can get the global earnings if promote the cinemas to overseas. For instance, internationally released movies earn billion dollars in recent days. Secondly, in-theatre experience with beloved one's create memories and can be more relaxing at the same time. Furthermore, sharing valueable time with families and friends are quite refreshing as well as eye-catching which can be created by on-spot experience. Finally, one can interact with other person and learn new languages as well as their culture which can lead us to meaningful changes in our thoughts.
In conclusion, although digital platforms are providing much easier and convenient advantages, in-person experience provides much insightful meaning towards society. Therefore, I strongly argue everyone should get the theatre experience with their loved one's.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on the importance of theatres and cinemas in the digital age and providing a clear personal opinion. The writer considers both the perspective that online entertainment renders physical venues obsolete and the counter-argument emphasizing economic and cultural benefits. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or repetitive, such as the general points on social interaction and cultural exchange. While the position is maintained throughout, the support provided in the body paragraphs tends to rely on generalized statements rather than fully extended examples. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, placing it firmly at a Band 6.5 level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, separating the introduction, two body paragraphs, and the conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are used to structure the text, though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. Referencing and substitution are generally clear, but there are minor instances where logical progression between sentences feels slightly disjointed, such as the sudden shift from VR devices to economic ripple effects. Overall, the logical organization is clear throughout, fulfilling the requirements for Band 6.5.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'technological advancement', 'compelling reason', and 'ripple effect'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and phrasing, such as 'saves both time and cost-efficient' (ungrammatical phrasing), 'loved one's' (incorrect apostrophe usage), and 'on Youtube or Facebook live' (preposition error). While these errors do not impede communication, they restrict the score to Band 6.0 due to recurring lexical slips.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional and relative clauses like 'While many find it crucial for global economical growth...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward structures throughout the text, such as 'There are number of reasons' (missing article), 'individual prefer enjoying' (subject-verb agreement), and 'sharing valueable time with families and friends are quite refreshing' (agreement error with plural gerund phrase). Punctuation and word form errors persist, placing the grammar performance at a Band 6.0.
