Student answer (Band 5.0)
Few individuals argue that in the era of virtualization, theatres and cinemas become less significant as people watch all purpose entertainment through online websites. While, other say that both are still crucial traditionally and economically. In my opinion, as invention and modernization in tech affect the popularity of cinema and theatre. Despite that, even now a large number of older adults prefer as it is pivotal both financially and culturally. This essay will elaborate both notion.
Firstly, as technology become beneficial and effortless source of fulfilling obsessions. This create challenges among popularity of cinemas and theatres, as movies and entertaining TV shows are widely available on websites free of charge. Another reason of decrease in the number of viewers of these shows is because whenever new movies launches ticket prices surge dramatically, which is unaffordable among middle-class, as a result public steps towards illegal ways like, selling of fake tickets which lead to inappropriate behavior.
On the other hand, older generation prefer visiting both cinemas and theatre for series and comedies which they cherished watching. Furthermore , the main factor why they adore such amusement is because their point of view it is imperative both economically and financially. Despite, such revolutionization on social media platforms and website which is accessible for information and movies freely, cinema and theatre still hold their reputation.
In conclusion, some people express, due to advancement on internet, obsession of films and dramatic acting theatre is not out of the box nowadays. Whereas, other share the notion that, it still contribute the same popularity. From my perspective, i believe occasionally visiting shows are one of the best leisure hour activity.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—the decline of theatres due to online media and their ongoing economic and cultural importance—while also presenting a clear, albeit somewhat basic, personal opinion. The ideas are generally relevant, but they lack sufficient extension and support. For example, the argument regarding ticket prices and illegal ticket selling is underdeveloped and slightly unclear. While the prompt is answered overall, the development of ideas aligns best with Band 6, where some arguments are touched upon superficially or lack cohesive elaboration.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an overall structure. However, logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and confusing sentence connections. For instance, starting sentences with 'While, other say' or 'Firstly, as technology become beneficial' creates disjointed transitions. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often inaccurate or mechanically applied. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as 'which they cherished watching' lacking a clear antecedent connection. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion requires improvement, placing this at Band 5.5, which is rounded to 5.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate basic points about technology and entertainment. However, there is a noticeable lack of precision, with frequent inappropriate word choices and collocations, such as 'era of virtualization' instead of 'digital age' or 'all purpose entertainment'. Less common lexical items are attempted, but they often result in awkward phrasing, such as 'fulfilling obsessions' or 'dramatic acting theatre'. Additionally, word-formation and spelling errors are present ('revolutionization'), restricting the lexical score to Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response features a mix of simple and attempted complex sentence forms. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in verb tense, agreement, and clause structure. Examples include 'theatres and cinemas become less significant' (tense shift), 'as technology become beneficial' (subject-verb agreement), and fragments like 'This create challenges'. Punctuation errors also appear, such as the misplaced comma in 'Furthermore , the main factor'. Because errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty or hesitation for the reader, the grammar performance sits firmly at a Band 5.0 level.
