Student answer (Band 5.0)
In contemporary society, some people argues about cinemas and theaters play a significant role in both culturally and economically while others believe that we can access all th entertainment at home.Personaly, i think that you can never get the theatre environment at home,it is something different everyone should get the expirence even once in a life time.
In one hand, technology has made entertainment easily accessable and made people's lives easier. Now everyone can watch movies and plays at home without putting any effort because they are available online and it is more convenient. For example, those individuals who are busy and less communicative and want to watch entertainment with their family or alone they prefer online entertainment without wasting their energy on traveling or communicating people in cinemas.
On the other hand, theatres and cinemas has still crucial place in both culturally and economically. Moreover, cinemas allows people communicate and helps them in cutural development. It also plays an important role in economic growth. For me personally, there is no replacement of theatres it has special place in my heart. You should probably once in alife go to the theatre and see how it feels, the actor's prpfessional plays, atmosphere and meet people who find it fascinating.
In conclusion, although we can afford almost every type of enertainment online, I beleive that in real life it plays a different and indescribable role.In addition, I recommended all of us to visit even for a once a theatre and decide that this is way better experience than online.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the view that theatres and cinemas are no longer important due to online entertainment and the counter-argument regarding their cultural and economic significance. The student also presents a clear personal opinion throughout the essay. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed, relying heavily on personal preference and general statements rather than deeper elaboration or concrete examples. Phrases like 'you can never get the theatre environment at home' are stated but not thoroughly explained with robust reasoning or external evidence. This places the response in the Band 5 to 6 range. Because the arguments are relevant and cover all prompt requirements, a band score of 5.5 is awarded.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into four paragraphs, following a standard introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a basic attempt at logical organisation, and cohesive devices such as 'In contemporary society', 'In one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are utilized to structure the text. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, 'In one hand' is a collocation error, and the progression of ideas within the body paragraphs lacks seamless transitions. Furthermore, punctuation and sentence boundary errors occasionally disrupt the flow of information. Overall, the arrangement is coherent enough to follow, matching the Band 5.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'contemporary society', 'economic growth', and 'indescribable role'. However, there are numerous lexical and collocational errors throughout the text, including 'th entertainment' (spelling), 'Personaly' (spelling), 'accessable' (spelling), 'prpfessional' (spelling), 'In one hand' (incorrect collocation for 'On the one hand'), and 'beleive' (spelling). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent and noticeable, making Band 5.0 the most accurate reflection of the student's current lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional and relative clauses ('those individuals who are busy and less communicative and want to watch entertainment...'). However, the grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in subject-verb agreement ('some people argues', 'theatres and cinemas has'), missing articles, and comma splices (e.g., 'at home,it is something different everyone should get the expirence'). These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from achieving a higher band. The overall control of grammar aligns best with a Band 5.0 rating.
