Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the task, discussing why some people feel theatres and cinemas are no longer important alongside the counter-argument that they remain economically and culturally significant. The writer also includes a personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the points about saving time and money, as well as the convenience of online streaming, are stated generally without much deep extension. The concluding statement simply reiterates previous points rather than synthesizing them. Consequently, the response fits the Band 5 descriptors, as the position is sometimes obscured by weak expression and ideas remain under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into four paragraphs, which provides a basic structural framework, but the logical progression within paragraphs is frequently disrupted. Transitional devices are sometimes awkward or missing, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'Because it our culture and best part of our lives where we save our memories...' There is also a heavy reliance on repetitive framing phrases ('a significant numbers of people', 'a significant reason'). Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal flow of ideas lacks smooth transitions. This places the response firmly in Band 5, showing some organization but failing to achieve a clear, logical overall progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that occasionally strain comprehension, such as 'signifiacnt famous' (significant), 'to use online platforms' (using online platforms), 'time cosuming' (time-consuming), and 'global wise' (globally). While the student attempts some less common phrasing like 'economically and culturally' and 'advanced development', inaccurate word choice and collocation prevent higher bands. The range is minimally adequate for addressing the topic, reflecting the characteristics of a Band 5 descriptor where vocabulary limitations cause noticeable errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay displays a very limited range of sentence structures, with frequent grammatical errors. Simple sentences predominate, and attempts at complex structures are often faulty, leading to ungrammatical constructions such as 'people easily watched entertainment to use online platforms, while it often argued' and 'There are several movies thats are very popular global wise.' Punctuation and article usage are frequently inaccurate, and subject-verb agreement errors appear throughout the text (e.g., 'these theaters is very important', 'people wants'). These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader, aligning the response with Band 5.
