Student answer (Band 6.0)

IN THE RECENT ERA, ADVANCED DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY HAVE CRUCIAL BENEFITS FOR THE PEOPLE. WHILE SOME PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT THEATRES AND CINEMAS ARE NOT IMPORTANT FOR ENTERTAINMENT BECAUSE NOE PEOPLE CAN WATCH ALL THE PROGRAMS ON ONLINE. OTHERS ARGUE THAT CINEMAS ARE STILL POPULAR AND IMPORTANT FOR ECONOMY AND CULTURE.THIS ESSAY WILL DISCUSS BOTH THESE VIEWS BEFORE GIVING MY OPINION.

ON THE ONE HAND, SUPPORTERS OF ONLINE ENTERTAINMENT ARGE THAT IS OFFERS MORE CONVENIENCE AND AFFORDABILITY. PEOPLE CAN WATCH ALL MOVIES, PLAYS AND VIDEOS COMFORTABLLY ANY TIME. FURTHERMORE, STREAMING SERVICES PROVIDE VAST RANGE OF CONTENT FOR A RELATEVLY LOW MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION FEES. ALL CONTENTS ARE AVAILABLE ON ONLINE WITH REAL TIMING OF CINEMAS LIKE NETFLIX AND MOVIEBOX. AS A RESULT, PEOPLE CAN SAVE THE MONEY OF CINEMAS TICKETS AND VALUABLE TIME WHICH IS WASTE BY TRANSPORTATION.

ON THE OTHER HAND, CINEMAS AND THEATRES STILL HAVE UNIQUE EXPERIENCES THAT CAN NOT BE FULLY REPLICATED ONLINE. MOREOVER, WATCHING A FILM WITH LARGE SCREEN AND ADVANCED SOUND SYSTEMS CREAT A IMMERSIVE ATMOSPHERE. SIMILARLY, PEOPLE CAN LEARN A JOURNEY AND LIFESYLE OF ARTISTS IN LIVE THEATRE PERFORMANCES WITH APRECIATING EMOTIONS AND TALENT IN REAL TIME. IN ADDITION, VANUES CAN CONTRIBUTES SIGNIFICANLY TO LOCAL ECONONIES BY CREATING JOBS AND VISITORS. THEY ALSO PRESERVE CULTURAL TRADITION AND ENCOURAGE ARTISTIC EXPRESSION.

IN MY OPINION, ALTHOUGH ONLINE ENTERTAINMENT HAS BECOME INCREASINGLY POPULAR, THEATRES AND CINEMAS REMAIN VALUABLE. THEY OFFER SOCIAL, CULTURAL AND ECONOMIC BENNEFITS THAT DIGITAL PLATFORMS CAN NOT COMPLETELY REPLACE. THEREFORE, BOTH FORM OF ENTERTAINMENT ARE LIKELT TO COEXIST IN FUTURE.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on the importance of digital platforms versus traditional theatres and cinemas, while also clearly stating the writer's own opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are adequately extended and supported with relevant points regarding convenience, cost, immersive atmosphere, and economic contributions. However, some arguments remain slightly superficial and could benefit from further elaboration. For instance, the point about local economies could have been expanded with specific examples. Nevertheless, the position is clear throughout, earning this response a solid Band 6.5 descriptor match, rounding to a fair 6.5.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay is logically organised into four distinct paragraphs, following a standard introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'ON THE ONE HAND', 'ON THE OTHER HAND', 'FURTHERMORE', and 'IN MY OPINION' are used to structure the text, although some transitions feel a bit mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Referencing is generally clear, and the overall progression is coherent, despite minor slips in mechanical cohesion. This corresponds well to the Band 6.5 standard.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'immersive atmosphere', 'subscription fees', and 'artistic expression'. However, there are several noticeable word choice and collocation errors, as well as spelling mistakes (e.g., 'COMFORTABLLY', 'RELATEVLY', 'APRECIATING', 'VANUES', 'BENNEFITS', 'LIKELT'). While these errors do not impede overall communication, they prevent the lexical score from reaching the higher bands where greater precision and control are required. Therefore, a Band 6.0 is appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in grammatical structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and inaccuracies, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'advanced digital technology have', 'all contents are available', 'venues can contributes') and missing articles or prepositions. Despite these errors, meaning is generally clear and communication is rarely impeded. The presence of these recurrent mechanical slips places the grammar firmly at the Band 6.0 level.
