IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people say that in the digital age, theatres and cinemas are no longer important as people can watch all the entertainment they want online. Others argue that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some people say that in the digital age, theatres and cinemas are no longer important as people can watch all the entertainment they want online with features and flexible way. In this essay we will discuss about both advantage and drawbacks.
On the one hand, theatres and cinemas have a wide range of facilities. Rich siting with sofa, wide angle move able although sleeper sofas. Big screen with range of mics, air-conditioners and also have sitting as view category like upper, middle and last. Moreover, they have cafe and snacks bar with variety of snacks like different types of popcorn, cold drinks. However, theatres and cinemas are too expensive and not affordable for every one. In addition, people go with family and friend to cinema and make a memorable things.
On the other hand, nowadays, people watch movies and entertainment programs in virtual OTT pleatforms like netflix and hotstar instead of go to cinemas. Online OTT platforms give wide range of quality change like 4K,2k 1k and they have also facility of speed like 0.5X 1.5X, 2X . Moreover, they have skipped and repeatation, for instance, skip music and missed part you want to see repeat again although have caption for understand some languages. Online platform is flexible and any time available, for example people in emergency situation they can see movie later however, in cinema that not possible. In contrast, cinemas are important because they give employment and economically beneficial, and go cinema with friends and family become a cultural .
In conclusion, cinemas have rich feels of variety things like snacks, sitting ,large screen, mics and AC. However, cinemas are too expensive. Online platforms also have wide range of facilities with plat form operations. Result as online platforms feels alone and cinema connected with friend and family and make memorable movie.
