Student answer (Band 5.0)

in the modern age, many people want, theaters and cinemas want online and no longer important but somme people considered it important both economically and culturally.

sopme people say it is not important because they can watch movie relaxing in thier home, one of the reason may be they cannot take any of the food with them inside and it will make them to buy in cinema if they want to eat and the food in filmhall are expensive. another reason may be they can enjoy their own company alone watching movie in online at home. moreover, they dont have to wait for seats as it will be full after some times.

while other say it is still important because first of all if the person is workholic and wants some refreshment they can go outside or go to theaters and cinema halls . secondly, many people wants to spend time with collegues, friends and wants to enjoy then cinema and threter would be one reason for them to enjoy. but also many family can get together and can go to theatre to enjoy their company with family.

i m opinion i would say theatre and cinema are still important because it give you a kind of joy, as the new film is released, i think of how the film is how are the casts, how are the role of the acotrs. will it meet my expectation of the triailor i watched.

few months ago i watched a nepali movie with my family and i was amazed with the film. i really enjoyed watching that movie.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the views that theatres and cinemas are no longer important due to online entertainment and the counterargument that they remain economically and culturally significant. The student also manages to present a personal opinion in the final paragraphs. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed, relying on simplistic arguments such as snack prices at cinemas and personal viewing preferences without extending them further. The personal example given at the end about watching a Nepali movie adds a touch of relevance, but overall, the development lacks depth and analytical rigor. Consequently, this performance aligns best with the Band 5 descriptors for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, which attempts to structure the introduction, opposing views, and conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is frequently hindered by a lack of logical links and poor mechanical cohesion. Transition markers like "sopme people say", "while other say", and "secondly" are used, but they are often repetitive, inaccurate, or fail to connect sentences smoothly. Referencing and pronoun use are also weak, leading to sentences that feel disjointed. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal flow within paragraphs lacks clear overall progression, placing the response firmly at a Band 5 level for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, featuring frequent spelling errors (e.g., "somme", "sopme", "thier", "workholic", "collegues", "triailor") and awkward word choices like "filmhall" and "company alone". The student attempts to use some less common words like "refreshment", "expectation", and "amazed", but the overall lexical range is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The noticeable spelling and word-choice errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from achieving a higher band. This corresponds to a Band 5 in Lexical Resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The essay demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and run-on clauses linked improperly by conjunctions or commas. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, as seen in "i m opinion i would say theatre and cinema are still important because it give you a kind of joy..." and "many people wants to spend time...". There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., "theaters and cinemas want", "people wants"), punctuation, and capitalization throughout the text. These persistent errors cause noticeable strain and difficulty for the reader, fitting the Band 4 descriptor well.
