Student answer (Band 6.0)
With the development of technology, everything becomes digital and some people find easy to watch all the entertainment they want online rather than going to theatres or cinemas. However, others believe that cinemas and theatres are still essential both economically and culturally.
Cinema based film industry provides numerous benefits to ecomony while giving job opportunities to the people who are the part of the industry as well as to the companies who sponsor films. For instance, films can't be developed only contribution of actors. That process includes a lot of people like photographers, directors, producers, makeup artists and even helpers. Consequently, it provides economical support to that population. On the other hand, cinemas and theatres showcase traditional value of the film and drama industry. Maintaining these old cinema halls and theatres helps to constant development of the industry which automatically inspire our younger generation to develop it. Furthermore, watching a movie in film hall is totally good experience rather than watching a movie alone in a room. It helps to reduce stress level as well as get out from regular busy shedules. It indirectly encourage people to improve work life balance.
On the other hand, individuals don't have much time due to busy shedules which is the one of reason people tend to watch online movies. Moreover, watching movie online reduce money and time expenditure. Online platforms normally provide plenty of options rather than cinema and thetres which is one of the main reason people addapt to watch online shows. For example, people can select a movie depending on mood if they watch it online but cinema people only have limited chances to choose. These things lead to move people away from cinemas
In conclusion, I think, it is really important to keep our theatres and cinema because it has immense value specially culturally and economically.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the online entertainment view and the economic and cultural importance of theatres and cinemas, while also presenting a clear position in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is uneven. For instance, the paragraph arguing for the economic and cultural benefits touches on valid points like employment and traditional value, but some assertions lack sufficient extension and clarity, such as the claim that 'films can't be developed only contribution of actors'. Meanwhile, the opposing view regarding the convenience of online platforms is introduced somewhat repetitively using phrases like 'busy shedules'. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to fully develop every main point with more precise supporting details and explanations rather than moving quickly between ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance and logical division into paragraphs, distinguishing between the two differing views. Cohesive devices are used to signal shifts in perspective, such as 'On the other hand' and 'In conclusion'. However, cohesion is occasionally mechanical or faulty, and referencing is not always clear, as seen in the phrase 'These things lead to move people away from cinemas' where the exact antecedent is a bit loose. Additionally, paragraphing within the body could be managed more effectively to separate distinct concepts like economic benefits and social experiences. To improve further, the writer should ensure smoother transitions between sentences and clearer internal referencing to establish a more seamless progression of thought throughout.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms such as 'work life balance', 'traditional value', and 'expenditure'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors that prevent a higher score, including 'ecomony' instead of economy, 'shedules' instead of schedules, 'addapt' instead of adapt, and 'trestres' or 'thetres' instead of theatres. Collocation is also sometimes unnatural, such as 'watching a movie in film hall is totally good experience'. While these vocabulary and spelling errors do not seriously impede overall communication, they highlight a need for greater precision and careful proofreading to ensure appropriate word forms and standard lexical conventions are consistently applied.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses, such as 'people who are the part of the industry' and 'people can select a movie depending on mood if they watch it online'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text, including missing articles ('with the development of technology, everything becomes digital and some people find easy'), preposition issues ('developed only contribution of actors'), and subject-verb agreement or pluralisation slips ('help to constant development', 'one of reason'). Fortunately, these grammatical errors rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear. To achieve a higher band, the writer should strive for greater control over complex structures and eliminate recurrent basic errors in articles and prepositions.
