Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is debated that nowadays, theatres and cinemas are no longer needed as all the entertainment is available online.I disagree with that because cinemas and theatres has unmatched environment and experience. Also the huge decline in cinemas is making people less social.
To begin with, dealing with boredom was not that easy, vacational trips, for example, was one of the few options we had. Getting rid of boredom is now a lot more easy by technology innovation. Stage performances, movie theatres, cinemas has lost the popularity.
In addition, theatres and cinemas are highly beneficial for the economy of the country. They also have a great impact on the culture and society. People get influenced by movie casts and the scenes, as the type of favoured entertainment is the face of society that represents the thoughts, the culture and the moral values of individuals
Moreover, the vibe and the experience is unmatched.People socialize through cinemas, they interact with the type of people having similar interests. They sit together in a group or a family and share their thoughts and experience about the scenes, which is rare in households nowadays. Although the cinema is always the same but each time there is more to explore as the movie or the group changes everytime.
In conclusion, the need of theatres and cinemas is still crucial. Government should aware individuals about the these valuable places as they serve an inevitable contribution to the wellness and prosperity of society. It is our responsibility to guide younger generation about cinemas as the immediate action is needed to deal with the declining trend towards cinemas.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the task only partially, presenting a position and some relevant arguments regarding the economic and cultural importance of theatres and cinemas, as well as the opposing view. However, the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For example, the mention of how 'cinemas is making people less social' in the introduction is not fully explored or supported with clear examples in the body paragraphs. Similarly, the point about how people get influenced by movie casts is introduced briefly without sufficient extension. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to present fully developed ideas with extended explanations and well-chosen supporting examples for all parts of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organisation with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, but the text lacks a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted, but transitions between ideas are sometimes abrupt or mechanical. For instance, the second paragraph abruptly shifts from general technological changes to a statement that stage performances and cinemas have lost popularity, without a smooth logical bridge to the following paragraph about economic benefits. Additionally, cohesive devices are sometimes inadequate or repetitive, such as the frequent use of basic transitional adverbs like 'In addition' and 'Moreover'. Achieving a higher band requires ensuring a clearer logical progression throughout the text and managing cohesive devices more flexibly and naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message. The writer attempts some less common items such as 'prosperity', 'inevitable contribution', and 'favoured entertainment', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable errors in word form, subject-verb agreement, and collocation, such as 'technology innovation' instead of 'technological innovation' and 'Government should aware individuals' instead of 'make individuals aware'. There are also minor awkward phrasings like 'each time there is more to explore as the movie or the group changes everytime'. To improve, the writer should expand their lexical range and pay closer attention to natural collocations and precise word forms to ensure clear communication without distracting slips.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response employs a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside some faulty attempts at complex structures. There are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors that can cause some difficulty for the reader. Notable issues include subject-verb agreement errors such as 'cinemas and theatres has unmatched environment' and 'cinemas has lost', as well as missing articles and preposition errors like 'awareness about the these valuable places' and 'guide younger generation'. Punctuation is also weak, evidenced by missing spaces after commas and periods. To progress, the writer must focus on improving grammatical control, reducing basic errors in agreement and articles, and building a more accurate variety of complex sentence forms.
