Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task, discussing both the decline of theatres due to online platforms and their ongoing economic and cultural importance, while also providing an opinion. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack extension. For example, while you mention that visiting cinemas is a 'stress buster activity' and helps 'strengthen their bond', these points are stated rather than fully explained with specific examples. Your position is generally clear throughout the essay, though the conclusion introduces a somewhat vague notion of a 'hybrid approach' rather than firmly synthesising your prior arguments. To reach the next level, you need to extend your supporting ideas with more depth and clarity, ensuring every main point is thoroughly explored.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different viewpoints and your own perspective. However, cohesion at times feels mechanical or faulty. Transitional phrases like 'To commence with' and 'On the other hand' are utilized, but referencing and logical flow can be clunky, such as 'having physical visit to that place to entertain themselves' where the pronoun reference is unclear. Additionally, some sentences within paragraphs feel loosely connected rather than flowing smoothly into one another. To improve, you should focus on smoother transitions between sentences and more precise referencing to guide the reader seamlessly through your arguments.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

Your vocabulary range is adequate for the task, allowing you to discuss the topic using relevant terms such as 'contemporary era', 'technological era', and 'traditional'. You attempt some less common vocabulary, but this is sometimes accompanied by awkward word choices, collocations, or word formation errors, such as 'wastage of land', 'pocket friendly', 'getting exposure of big screen', and 'worth going place'. There are also minor spelling slips, such as 'substancially' and 'quit' instead of 'quite'. These lexical inaccuracies do not prevent your meaning from coming across, but they restrict the precision and natural flow of your writing. To achieve a higher score, you should focus on more natural word combinations and precise vocabulary control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though the range of structures remains somewhat limited. You attempt complex sentences, but they frequently contain grammatical errors. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues such as 'theatres and cinemas has significant advantage', missing articles like 'in _ subsequent paragraphs', and prepositions used incorrectly in patterns, such as 'with accord to their leisure time' instead of 'in accordance with'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, and while these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede communication. To move higher, you need to increase your repertoire of error-free complex structures and pay closer attention to basic grammatical rules such as pluralisation and article use.
