Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views on theatres and cinemas versus online entertainment and offers a personal opinion, placing it in the middle tier of task performance. However, some ideas remain under-developed or somewhat generalized. For instance, the argument regarding the economic and cultural importance of cinemas is introduced with phrases like 'essential part of our culture, it can help us to represent our culture on international level', but this point lacks concrete elaboration or depth. Similarly, the points about online entertainment offering a superior experience or helping elderly people are stated simply without fully exploring the broader implications. The student's position is clear throughout the essay, but the extension of ideas needs more robust support and specific examples to move further up the scale.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs addressing different viewpoints, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. The transitions between sentences and ideas often rely on basic connecting phrases such as 'In this digital trend', 'While on the othe hand', and 'To conclude'. Furthermore, referencing is not always clear, as seen in sentences with ambiguous pronoun usage like 'it can help us to represent our culture' where the antecedent is broad or repetitive. Paragraphing is utilized to separate the contrasting perspectives, yet the internal flow within paragraphs suffers from run-on structures and choppy transitions, preventing a smoother, more natural progression of ideas throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message, though noticeable lexical and spelling errors cause some difficulty for the reader. There are several spelling mistakes, such as 'individiuals', 'require' instead of 'required', 'availbale', 'peson', and 'distracted'. Word choice and word formation issues also appear throughout the text, including phrases like 'do perform any task', 'an elderly people', and 'i can do relax on a movie theatre'. While the student attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'over-the-top platform' and 'economically good', inaccuracies in collocation and form restrict the precision and flexibility of expression, placing this aspect of the writing firmly in the lower-intermediate range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentence forms alongside attempts at complex sentences that are frequently faulty. There are recurrent errors in subject-verb agreement, such as 'theatre and cinemas is still a part', articles, and plurals, alongside awkward clause structures like 'while all the entertainment is also availbale online and it give superior experience to the view'. Punctuation is also problematic, marked by run-on sentences and comma splices, for example, in the second paragraph where multiple independent clauses are joined improperly with commas. These frequent errors in grammar and sentence mechanics disrupt the reading flow and require the reader to decode the intended meaning.
