Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response addresses the prompt partially by attempting to discuss both views regarding the role of theatres and cinemas versus online entertainment, but it trails off incomplete in the second body paragraph. While the writer states that they will discuss both views and give their opinion in the introduction, the ideas remain heavily under-developed, repetitive, and disjointed. Furthermore, the response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 250 words, as it contains only 206 words. The position is not fully articulated or supported, and the sudden cessation of the text prevents any proper conclusion or balanced evaluation of the economic and cultural aspects mentioned.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some basic organization attempted with transitional markers such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand', but the overall progression lacks clarity and logical flow. Paragraphing is poorly executed, with the second body paragraph cutting off mid-sentence and failing to develop a cohesive argument. Referencing is frequently unclear, using vague pronouns like 'it' and 'they' without clear antecedents. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical and repetitive manner, such as the constant repetition of 'easily watch', which hinders the smooth progression of ideas throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, featuring frequent word-choice errors and spelling mistakes such as 'pepole', 'threaters', 'vedios', 'flims', and 'negotive'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, but these attempts are marred by inaccurate collocations and inappropriate forms, such as 'charged was declined'. While meaning can sometimes be extracted despite the numerous lexical inaccuracies, the restricted range and persistent errors significantly constrain the effectiveness of the communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is extremely limited, relying heavily on faulty attempts at complex sentences. There are frequent errors in verb forms, tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation throughout the text, exemplified by structures like 'Some individual argue with that' and 'people are argue that'. Punctuation and capitalization are erratic, and run-on sentences appear frequently due to missing spaces after commas and periods. These persistent errors cause frequent strain and difficulty for the reader.
