Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially, presenting limited and under-developed ideas regarding the decline of cinemas in the digital age and their economic and cultural importance. The writer attempts to discuss both views—that online entertainment has made cinemas less important, and that theatres remain economically and culturally significant—but the arguments lack depth and proper support. For instance, the mention of Lahore cinemas closing is a relevant local example, but it is introduced abruptly and left underdeveloped without a clear explanation of broader economic impacts. Furthermore, the writer's position is somewhat unclear throughout the text and appears slightly disjointed in the conclusion. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to present fully developed ideas with extended explanations and well-chosen examples that directly address all parts of the prompt in a structured manner.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some basic organization, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas from introduction to conclusion. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak, often consisting of run-on sentences or ideas that are bundled together rather than logically sequenced. Cohesive devices are used inadequately or inaccurately, such as repetitive use of 'So', 'However', and conversational transitions like 'If we talk about the people that how they consume content so then it will totally be depend'. Pronoun referencing is also occasionally unclear, leaving the reader confused about what certain clauses refer to. To improve, the writer should ensure that each paragraph has a clear central topic, use a wider and more accurate range of cohesive ties, and structure the response to guide the reader smoothly from one point to the next without abrupt shifts.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task, containing noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. There are frequent word form and spelling inaccuracies, such as writing 'digital era' as 'an digital era', 'chnaged' instead of 'changed', 'advance' instead of 'advanced', and 'indsustry' has been misspelled as 'indsustry'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'modernisation' and 'consequences', but these are undermined by awkward collocations and repetition of basic words like 'people', 'movies', and 'online'. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to expand their lexical repertoire, use precise vocabulary related to media and economics without spelling errors, and demonstrate better control over word forms and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text exhibits a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying primarily on simple sentences or attempts at complex sentences that are frequently faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors in verb forms, tenses, articles, and prepositions, such as 'has been chnaged and become more advance', 'it will totally be depend the things thet we all have adapted', and 'government is also not supporting in this case'. Punctuation is also problematic, with run-on sentences lacking appropriate separation or conjunctions. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and impede the flow of the text. To reach a higher level, the writer must demonstrate better control over basic grammatical patterns, ensure correct subject-verb agreement and article usage, and successfully incorporate a wider variety of accurate complex sentence structures.
