Student answer (Band 5.0)
In this era of technology some people believe that theaters and cinemas are rather outdated as people can watch all the entertainment online. While others say that these are significant for both economically and culturally. I believe this saves our money spending on buying tickets or on transport cost and enjoy with friends or family at home so using online apps are a better option than going to cinemas.
In this age of technology some people prefer to watch entertainment shows on their digital gadgets rather than going to theaters or cinemas because they believe that they can amuse their selves at home by using latest technology without going outdoor. On the other hand, some people argue that theaters and cinemas are crucial in an economic point of view for society so that the economy of the country's grow and to secure culture or tradition which continues from decades ago.
I believe that we can take advantage of digital age and save our money for important needs. As it saves our money for buying tickets or for transport cost. We can arrange a get together at home with our loved ones and watch anything we want just by a click away. For example, whenever we want to entertain ourselves, we just watch it on our devices without spending a lot of money.
In conclusion, both group of people have their own perspectives on going or not going to cinema and I believe that we can take advantage of this technology without wasting too much money.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially. While the prompt asks you to discuss both views on cinemas and theatres and give your own opinion, your main focus drifts toward the financial benefits of staying at home rather than providing a balanced discussion of the economic and cultural significance of physical venues mentioned in the second view. Your position is presented in the introduction and body paragraphs, but the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, stating that online streaming 'saves our money spending on buying tickets or on transport cost' is repeated throughout the essay without being extended into deeper supporting arguments. To move closer to higher bands, you need to fully develop both sides of the prompt with more detailed explanations, concrete examples, and a more thoroughly explored personal perspective.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some organisation in the essay, with clear paragraph breaks separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used rather repetitively and mechanically, such as 'In this age of technology' appearing multiple times, and transitional phrases like 'On the other hand' and 'In conclusion'. Furthermore, referencing and paragraph links are occasionally unclear, particularly in how your personal opinion in the third paragraph connects back to the broader societal views introduced earlier. To improve Coherence and Cohesion, you should aim for a smoother logical flow between sentences and paragraphs, varying your cohesive devices and ensuring every new sentence builds naturally upon the previous one without unnecessary repetition.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey your basic message. You attempt some less common words and phrases, such as 'digital gadgets', 'crucial in an economic point of view', and 'loved ones', but there are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. For example, phrases like 'for both economically and culturally' contain incorrect word forms (it should be 'both economically and culturally' or 'both for economic and cultural reasons'), and 'amuse their selves' contains a pronoun error. Additionally, vocabulary tends to be repetitive, relying frequently on words like 'money', 'technology', and 'entertainment'. To achieve a higher band, you should expand your lexical range and focus on precise word choices and correct collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Your writing displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences or attempts at complex structures that are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as fragment sentences and issues with prepositions and conjunctions, including 'While others say that these are significant for both economically and culturally' and 'just by a click away'. Although your meaning can generally be understood, these frequent errors cause noticeable difficulty and distraction for the reader. To improve your grammatical score, you need to work on forming accurate complex sentences with subordinate clauses, ensure correct subject-verb agreement, and eliminate basic structural errors by carefully proofreading your work.
