Student answer (Band 5.5)

Several individuals argue with the advancement of technology, theaters are no longer beneficial, while some believe, they play a key role in the economy and also reflect culture. Keeping both these views of people, I strongly believe theaters are still the need of the society and should run and function as routinely.

Firstly, due to the online availability of the content, the attention toward theaters are declining. Mostly, young generation do not want to leave their comfort zone and physically visit the cinemas. They prefer to watch their favourate shows or movies online, where they get numerous options and customizations as well. By this I mean to increase the speed of the show, they have option, to go to a certain scene, they have choice, and many more useful features as well. Futhermore, it also effecting people emotionally and culturally, because theater had a long history and carries intentions and symbols of our ancestors. They also used to perform and enjoy directing a story because they are great at story telling, but unfortunately, new generation is lacking this quality.

Cinemas, on the other hand provides much more benefit which the young genration and most people are underestimating. For example, places like theaters help people become more social and talk with other individuals of different mindsets. They can talk about the specific parts of the movie or they can mention some suggestions or mistakes in the movie. Additionaly, theaters also provide employeement to several individuals. For intance, actors and production staff get well-payed when they perform infront of big audience. The tickets purchased by the hard earned money of peoples of the country plays a key role in nation's economy.

In conclusion, the influence of technology has provoked many people from visiting theaters, I still completely agree cinemas comes with the advantage of becomming more social and talkative. They also have the benefits of generating jobs and improving country's growth in economy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—the decline of cinemas due to online streaming and their ongoing economic and cultural importance—while also presenting a clear position. However, the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed, which keeps the response at this level. For instance, when discussing online platforms, the writer mentions features like changing speed or jumping to certain scenes, but this point lacks full extension. Similarly, the cultural perspective is introduced with general statements about ancestors and storytelling without specific, well-developed examples. To move higher, the writer needs to expand on each main point with deeper explanations and more relevant, fully integrated examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a discernible organizational structure, with distinct paragraphs for the introduction, the first view, the second view, and the conclusion. However, the overall progression lacks absolute clarity, and the transitions feel somewhat mechanical. Cohesive devices are occasionally used inaccurately or repetitively, such as the opening phrase 'Keeping both these views of people,' which feels awkward and unnatural. Referencing within sentences is also sometimes unclear, as seen with pronoun usage and abrupt shifts between ideas in the body paragraphs. To achieve a higher level, the writer must ensure smoother logical transitions between sentences and paragraphs, making the progression of ideas entirely seamless and natural without relying on repetitive cohesive patterns.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, providing a sufficient range to express basic opinions about technology and cinemas. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'customizations,' 'employeement,' and 'underestimating,' but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form. For instance, 'employeement' contains a spelling error, and phrases like 'effecting people emotionally' misuse 'effecting' instead of 'affecting.' These lexical slips and inaccuracies sometimes cause slight strain for the reader. To progress, the writer should incorporate a wider variety of precise, sophisticated vocabulary and pay closer attention to collocations and accurate word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple constructions alongside some flawed attempts at complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with prepositions, verb tenses, and article usage, such as 'theaters are no longer the need of the society,' 'provide employeement to several individuals,' and 'infront of big audience.' Complex structures often contain mistakes that disrupt the flow and require the reader to re-read to grasp the meaning. To reach the next level, the writer needs to produce a higher proportion of error-free sentences, exercise better control over punctuation and grammatical agreements, and use complex sentence forms with greater accuracy.
