Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views and offering an opinion, but the ideas are limited and under-developed. For example, the student mentions that technology offers 'big screens such as multimedia' and that cinemas promote 'cultural series', but these points lack detailed explanation or robust examples to fully support the argument. The position is stated in the introduction, such as 'In my opinion that they are no longer impotant', but overall the development remains partial throughout the essay. To reach a higher level, the writer would need to fully extend each main idea with clear reasoning and concrete examples rather than relying on brief and repetitive assertions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some basic organization with clear paragraph breaks, dividing the introduction, body points, and conclusion. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, and the flow is frequently disrupted. Cohesive devices are used rather repetitively and mechanically, such as starting consecutive sentences with 'Moreover' and 'In conclusion'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, making it hard to follow the exact logical links between arguments. For instance, transitional phrases between sentences feel abrupt rather than smoothly connected. To improve, the writer should use a wider variety of cohesive markers naturally and ensure that each sentence logically builds on the previous one to create a seamless progression of thought.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common terms like 'digital advancement', but these are often used with noticeable errors in word choice, form, and spelling, such as 'impotant', 'becasue', 'advancment', 'significentally', and 'darmas'. Collocations are also weak, for example, using 'adult type of movies' instead of adult films and 'crowed' instead of crowds. These lexical inaccuracies and spelling errors sometimes cause difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to expand their vocabulary range, practice correct word formation, and ensure accurate spelling and collocation throughout the essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response employs a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences or attempted complex sentences that are heavily flawed. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with verb forms and tenses, such as 'people reduce to go' instead of people are reducing their visits, and missing auxiliary verbs like 'if someone watching'. Errors also appear in prepositions within grammatical patterns and subject-verb agreement, such as 'government will collects'. These frequent mistakes cause difficulty and strain for the reader. To progress, the writer must focus on mastering basic sentence structures and reducing the frequency of foundational grammatical errors.
