Student answer (Band 5.0)

There is an on going debate weather cinemas and theatres has no longer importance or still they are imoportant economically and culturally. Before giving my opinion this essay will discuss both the perspectives. From my point of view I would say in the digital era cinemas and theatres are no longer important for people.

One major fector, in the digital era most of the people are busy in their work some of them are busy in thier jobs, businesses, and more. Because of this fector people often choose to take rest rather than spending almost three hours in a movie. Other people prefer to watch the exact movie at home on either mobile application ( namely netflix, amazon prime TV, jio hotstar) or Television rather there spending almost three hours outdoor. Like in India most of the time Indian cinema try to release movies on weekends or on festival time so people can watch that movie those who preferred to stay at home or cannot watch due to some personal reasons can watch the exact same movies after couple of days when it's release on cinemas on thier phones or television.

On the other hand, cinemas and theatres are also important, because sometimes younger people do piracy on the movie which is completely illegal to do in India. In that case i would say piracy is a crime so cinemas and theatres are important in that way. There was a movie named " A FLYING JATT" back then in India lot of portions of the citizen pirated this movie and watched this. So in this type of case i would prefer to say cinemas and theatres are important as well.

To conclude, although in the digital era cinemas and theatres have no longer importance; However, due to piracy case they are important too

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially. While the writer attempts to discuss both views and present an opinion, the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the first body paragraph touches upon busy lifestyles and home-viewing options, but the argument lacks sufficient elaboration or concrete examples. The second body paragraph attempts to present the opposing view regarding piracy, using the example of the film 'A Flying Jatt', but this argument is confusingly structured and underdeveloped, making the overall position somewhat unclear. To move up, the writer needs to extend and support all main ideas with relevant, clear explanations and well-developed supporting points throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some organization, such as basic introduction and conclusion markers, but it lacks a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted, but the body paragraphs are disjointed and struggle to maintain a logical flow of ideas. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and sometimes inaccurately, as seen in the abrupt transitions between sentences and the repetitive phrasing in the conclusion ('although in the digital era cinemas and theatres have no longer importance; However, due to piracy case they are important too'). Referencing is also occasionally unclear. To improve, the writer must ensure a logical sequence of ideas from sentence to sentence and paragraph to paragraph, while using a wider variety of cohesive devices smoothly and appropriately.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited but minimally adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common terms and names platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime, but there are numerous noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as 'on going', 'weather', 'imoportant', and 'fector'. Furthermore, awkward phrasing such as 'younger people do piracy on the movie' causes some difficulty for the reader and impacts precision. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to expand their lexical repertoire, use words with greater precision regarding collocation and style, and significantly improve spelling accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response uses a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent errors when attempting complex forms. There are recurrent mistakes in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'cinemas and theatres has no longer importance', 'rather there spending', and 'when it's release on cinemas on thier phones'. Punctuation is also inconsistently handled. These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader. To progress, the writer should practice forming accurate complex sentences, monitor basic agreement rules closely, and reduce the frequency of grammatical slips.
