Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
Your response sits at this band because the length requirement is not met, as the text contains only 175 words, falling significantly short of the 250-word minimum. Regarding the content, you partially address the prompt by identifying both views and briefly stating your opinion in the introduction ('In my opinion, online entertainment sources cannot fully replicate the experience of live threatre and cinema'). However, your ideas are limited and under-developed. For instance, the second body paragraph trails off abruptly ('Because many people believe the type of art is tio'), leaving the final argument unfinished. To improve, you must write at least 250 words and fully extend all your supporting points with specific explanations and examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation in your writing, such as the initial division into an introduction and body paragraphs, but there is no clear overall progression due to the incomplete conclusion and abrupt ending. Cohesive devices are minimal, inadequate, or repetitive, relying heavily on basic transitional phrases like 'On the other' (which is also grammatically incomplete, missing 'hand') and 'Likewise'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and paragraphing breaks down as the text cuts off mid-sentence. To move to a higher band, you need to ensure a logical progression of ideas throughout the essay, use a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices, and maintain complete, well-structured paragraphs from start to finish.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is limited but minimally adequate for expressing basic ideas about online versus physical entertainment. You make noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word forms, such as 'threatre', 'asubscription', 'cinemea', 'defination', and 'irreplacale'. These spelling and typographical mistakes stem from rushed typing or a lack of proofreading. Additionally, you rely on repetitive phrasing like 'watch movies' and 'online platforms'. To achieve a higher score, you need to demonstrate a wider and more flexible range of vocabulary, use less common lexical items accurately with attention to spelling, and avoid repeating the same basic words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You demonstrate a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple and straightforward complex sentences. When you attempt complex structures or longer clauses, frequent errors occur, such as missing articles ('going to watch movie'), incorrect prepositional patterns, and spelling-related morphological slips. Punctuation and minor grammatical oversights also appear, and the incomplete final sentence demonstrates a lack of control over complex clause integration. These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve, aim to incorporate a greater variety of complex sentence forms while maintaining tighter control over basic grammatical agreements, articles, and sentence completion.
