Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people believe that we are in the digital era, where theatres and cinemas are irrelevant, because people can watch online entertainment shows. While other think that theatres and cinemas are still relevant for cultural and economic purposes. In my opinion theatres and cinemas play crucial to preserve our cultural heritage, and for economy of a country.
The most apparent reason why cinemas and theatres are vital for preservation of culture is to learn of our history. This is primarily because theatre plays and movies help us remember how a nation has developed its special values and traditions. Therefore, they help new generation to appreciate the struggle and efforts to shape a country. For instance, many movies on holocaust help us remember the how darkest acts of humanity came it into play. Furthermore, by recaptiluting history, we can help us avoid repeating great mistakes.
On the other hand, online sources has made it more accessible to watch shows and events from the comfort of their homes, which is a good facility. This is mainly because online versions reduces the effort of travelling to the venue, and dedicating time for these events. As a result, people donot go to theatres plays and cinemas to watch them. For example, many popular movies are available to watch online. Additionally, significant number of people prefer privacy and convinence.
In conclusion, although online platforms offer conveninence of watching shows. I believe theatres and cinemas give a experience of watching the event in live gives experience of a lifetime, hence theatres and cinemas are quit essential for our economy and culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the decline of physical venues due to online media and their enduring cultural and economic significance, while presenting a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is uneven. For instance, the argument regarding the economic importance mentioned in the introduction is not fully elaborated in the body paragraphs, which focus almost exclusively on cultural preservation and the benefits of online streaming. While the examples provided, such as movies about the Holocaust, are relevant, some ideas suffer from brief or superficial extension, placing this response firmly in the mid-level range for task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas from the introduction through the body paragraphs to the conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different perspectives, such as the cultural value of cinemas in the second paragraph and the convenience of online platforms in the third. Cohesive devices are employed, including transition markers like 'Furthermore', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, cohesion can sometimes feel mechanical or slightly repetitive, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun shift in 'we can help us avoid repeating great mistakes', which slightly disrupts the flow of argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying the writer's general meaning. The response attempts less common vocabulary with varying degrees of success, demonstrating some awareness of topic-related terminology such as 'cultural heritage', 'preservation of culture', and 'online platforms'. However, there are notable word choice, spelling, and word form errors that occasionally distract the reader, such as 'recaptiluting' instead of 'recapitulating', 'convinence' instead of 'convenience', and the awkward phrase 'play crucial to preserve' in the introduction. Despite these minor inaccuracies, communication is not significantly impeded.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like conditional and concessive clauses with varying success. There are some grammatical errors in sentence construction and article usage, such as missing articles ('help us remember the how darkest acts') and minor errors in verb patterns and agreement, including 'online sources has made' and 'people donot go'. Punctuation is generally functional, but overall, the presence of these recurring grammatical errors means they persist throughout the text, though they rarely impede the reader's understanding of the central message.
