Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response achieves a limited score because it addresses the task only partially. It attempts to discuss both views regarding the importance of theatres versus online streaming and gives an opinion, but the ideas are severely under-developed and the position remains unclear due to confusing phrasing. Furthermore, the response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it contains only 225 words, and it cuts off abruptly at the end of the second body paragraph.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
Cohesion and logical progression are weak, placing the response at a lower band. Although basic cohesive devices are used to link sentences, such as 'While some people argue' and 'Another reason', the overall progression is difficult to follow because of poor sentence construction and incomplete paragraphs. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph consists of a single incomplete sentence, indicating a lack of overall control and structural organisation.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is limited and inadequate for a higher score, featuring frequent spelling and word-choice errors that strain the reader. Misspellings such as 'threatres', 'impotant', 'enterainments', 'negtive', 'individulas', 'potiental', 'depand', 'belife', 'wachting', 'Neverthless', and 'dependon' recur throughout the text. While the student attempts some less common terms like 'implications' and 'counterarguments', the persistent lexical errors prevent successful communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Grammatical control is heavily restricted, showing a very limited range of structures and frequent errors. The text contains numerous sentence fragment errors, such as starting sentences with 'Because they are depand on' and 'One of the main reasons i support', which disrupt the grammatical flow. Subject-verb agreement issues, missing articles, and awkward punctuation patterns are widespread throughout the writing, causing constant difficulty for the reader.
