Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the Digital era consumption of media is convenient because of the availability over multiple platform , which could be accessed over any convenient time and place. but theatres and cinemas play crucial role in both economy and cultural , what i think is that both points have their own advantages and disadvantages
ease of access to internet had made entertainment media available online on multiple platform such as Netflix , amazon prime , hotstart , where it provides variety of shows, movies , and web series options for people to choose from based on their taste. these platform also provide convenience to watch at any desired time and place but with a subscription fee for maintenance of the platform and viewing the content.
Despite the convenience of online streaming, cinemas continue to have economic and cultural importance. They provide employment and generate revenue through ticket sales, food and other services. More importantly, watching a film in a cinema offers a social experience that cannot be completely replicated at home. The large screen, sound system and atmosphere allow people to enjoy films with friends, family or other members of the audience.
audience still need a lot of planning of multiple things about the theatre , travel plan
In the end I would say that both the ways of consuming media is same in term of economical and cultural value because the only main difference is about the experience people get by visiting a theatre cant be bought by online watch a movie at home

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the online streaming perspective and the economic and cultural importance of cinemas, while briefly attempting to state a personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the position is not always entirely clear or well-sustained throughout. Ideas remain limited and somewhat under-developed, particularly in the final body paragraph and the conclusion, where the reasoning becomes slightly confused, stating that both ways of consuming media are the same in terms of value. To achieve a higher level, the writer needs to extend and support all ideas more fully with clearer explanations and maintain a more consistent, transparent position from the introduction through to the final sentence.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic level of organisation, and the response is divided into paragraphs, which helps give it an overall structure. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, and the logical flow between ideas is frequently disrupted by abrupt shifts. Cohesive devices are used minimally and sometimes inaccurately, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters or disjointed transitions like 'audience still need a lot of planning'. Referencing is also not always clear, and mechanical repetition of ideas appears across paragraphs. To improve, the writer should use a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices to connect ideas smoothly, ensure every paragraph has a clear thematic focus, and maintain logical sequencing throughout the text.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to discuss digital media and cinema culture using terms like 'consumption of media', 'subscription fee', and 'social experience'. However, the range is limited, and there are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as writing 'cultural' instead of 'culture', 'hotstart' instead of 'Hotstar', and awkward phrases like 'online watch a movie at home'. Spelling errors, missing words, and incorrect forms occasionally cause slight difficulty for the reader. To move up, the student needs to build a broader vocabulary repertoire, use less common lexical items more precisely, and pay closer attention to word forms and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The text displays a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences or attempts at complex sentences that frequently contain errors. There are frequent mistakes in basic grammatical areas, including article usage, subject-verb agreement, capitalization, and punctuation, such as beginning sentences with lowercase letters ('in the Digital era', 'but theatres') and run-on structures. These frequent errors can cause difficulty and distraction for the reader. To progress, the writer must focus on improving the accuracy of basic sentence structures, ensuring proper capitalization and punctuation, and carefully controlling more complex grammatical forms to reduce the frequency of errors.
